No indeed Barrie! well it looks like the good old GTS is going to be sought after for the next 4 years until they build another GT/Coupe.

And I agree with Sparts, this will look dated in 2020...

It will be updated and tweaked Phil.

If it was available now for circa £80k I'd have one...petrol V6TT and needs to be AS quick as the Giulia QV...minimum.

Notice how there is still a lack of clarity as to whether the line at Modena actually still makes the GT/GC?

Still I like my car and will drive it until the miles get too high and I decide to off load it. No guarantee on when that will be mind and I can't replace it with a Maserati in the next four or so years. So be it.

The world has gone SUV mad so it wouldn't surprise me to see the GT line turned over to a Levante line in the new year

Land rover still can't build evoques fast enough 5 years after launch so worldwide demand will be high for a premium SUV

The Alfieri as it is needs to be parked in the What might have been section. They really need to have a flagship car close to viable production when they announce it, if they are going to go that route. They seem to have no sports car / GT plan at the moment, though it is good to see the Levante doing reasonably well. Looks to me they want to be an Italian BMW :(

Agree, I'm keeping the AC, but any petrolhead looking to get into a Maserati say 5,10 years down the line, will have a choice of Granturismo and its variants and thats about it. I can't see the new Ghibli or Quattroporte having the same appeal as the older models down the line, I hope I'm wrong ,as I was with the Biturbos from the 80s. I can see the Levante catching on 2nd hand though, a bit like the ML AMG, X5, and Cayenne, etc.

I think it's fairly clear what has happened... FCA did not meet their ambitious plans with the ghibli and the delayed levante. This overall delay in their plans meant that the Alfieri concept became obsolete they will start from scratch so it will be in line with legislation.

On the plus side the Coupe and Gran Tourismo may become more sought after especially by the time a new coupe is released

What's annoying is that you don't find, say AM, putting the DB9 out of production for a few years before the DB11 comes along. You just keep it going, increasing the spec and discounts and take the fall in volumes on the chin to keep brand identity out there.

Maserati prefer to stop making their halo cars and can't even agree on when they will stop making them*. What a mess!

*Please insert an alternative line in here if you have proof that they have already stopped**

I am trying to get a factory tour arranged for next year. If I get one I'll report back

Hate to say I said so, but I said so. Fiat are right and royally bugger1ng Maserati leaving them with with euro boxes, SUVs and no halo.......the GT is a good car but dated now so not by any stretch a halo. Bad days ahead. :(

It was confirmed to me by dealer ' no new GT orders' end of.

That's useful as a number of SM members have been told that. Strange that all the articles talk of production due to end in 2017. I wonder if they are stretching production to Jan/Feb and then will reveal the new car in, say, autumn 2019 so they can say that there was only a two year gap when in reality it was over three?
