Drive on Sunday?Laurence, happy to join you on a culinary adventure in any choice of car.
Check this place out. Storrs Hall.
We used to visit this place for a spot of lunch when we had our lovely QP. ( those were the days)
Stunning spot right on Lake Windermere. (road out of Windermere heading towards Newby Bridge)
The Pheasant was taken over, which was a shame because it had a genuine characterful 'lived in' feel. Not been during covid times, but fear it might not be as it once was. (It's only 10 minutes from me.)It is pretty impressive; nearly stayed there last time passing through, but too expensive and there was a wedding going on.
We have stayed at Cragwood, which has a couple of nice rooms and some great views, but the food was a bit dull.
And at the Wild Boar - horrible motel-standard modern room but great food.
Also the Pheasant at Bassenthwaite - an nice inn with a fishing lodge vibe, with good food.
(But this was a while ago - who knows what they are like now).

Not been to the Pheasant before but always keep meaning to. But normally go to the Lakes Distillery across the road which is consistently good for a spot of lunch...and a whisky of course. It is pretty impressive; nearly stayed there last time passing through, but too expensive and there was a wedding going on.

Storrs is another place that was sold, it used to be privately owned by two Antiquities dealers and was exquisitely furnished in superb taste. Not been to the Pheasant before but always keep meaning to. But normally go to the Lakes Distillery across the road which is consistently good for a spot of lunch...and a whisky of course.
Storrs Hall is a great place with a stunning backdrop, but it is a bit pricey but much quieter than some of the places around Bowness etc.
Wife and I had 5 nights here last year (between lockdowns). Beautiful view of the lack from our room, the hotel is lovely and we may well be going back this October.Check this place out. Storrs Hall.
