Good morning all. Just a quick hello from me. Very soon to be joining the fold. Looking forward to enjoying summer in a 4200. I've been lurking and researching this forum over the last month and its proved invaluable in my preparation to find the right car.

Looking forward to some mini restoration/maintenance projects and hope to join some of the meets. - do we have any around Yorkshire/many members Yorkshire based?

Photos will follow as soon as the car is acquired.

Thanks Phil. Great to see strong Maserati representation in New Zealand. It has a special place in my heart as I proposed to the Mrs corridore on waiheke island last year.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Cars in the park at newby looks good- cheers doohickey.

Atreyu - I am in Beverley, east Yorks. You?

Always keen for a run out over the north York moors/dales, certainly enjoyed some of those with my Z4MC and z4froum.

I am sure (despite ability to use search) that I will have questions as I discover more about the car. Probably the usual stuff (loudlink/exhaust/X pipe/trickle/sticky buttons etc - please have patience !

Do we have an annual "national meet" ?

Welcome to the forum.

The 4200 is a great car...so good I bought two!...and don't let people tell you that you must have a GS, the 4200 is just as good and far more usable.

AND you have the option of a manual box!

Indeed. The very reason I have selected a 4200. Done flappy paddles, and have auto/flappy in my daily. Really looking forward to a manual again in my fun car. (Have been having to get my fix from the missus' seat Leon - just not the same!)

Haha!!........I know what you mean. And we are a much rarer breed to the CC.

If you haven't seen it before, YouTube 'Maserati 4200 Davide Cironi' He test drives a manual as gives it quite a good kicking and review!! (It's about 12 mins. long)........Oh, BTW, welcome aboard!!

Yeah!! Seen it. Great you tube video - he does give it some, and sounds fantastic. That video had a large part in narrowing the field down to the 4200.

I tried to look up who he is but didn't get very far- ex-racing driver?

As far as I know he started out as a driving instructor for Ferrari (new buyers of Ferraris were given the option to take lessons from him on how to drive their cars properly)
I had already made up my mind about which model/gearbox, but after watching that just confirmed everything for me. Good luck with your search if you haven't already found one.

Hi everyone, car is now acquired and ready for some enjoyment this year. Overall in very good condition, but I will be doing the usual preventative maintenance/tidy ups etc.

1st job was a good clean. Body work in good condition, but was definitely in need of a good clay before polishing up and waxing to protect it for the year.

For those interested, I am by no means a "detailer" but like to keep my cars in very good condition so - started with autoglym body shampoo, 2- bucket method, and 2 washes. Then clay-bar which really made a difference, got back that smooth glass like finish when you run your hands over. Great! This was followed by autogylm SRP, which I have always found to be excellent. Gave a great shine, then covered with 2 coats of collinite 476.

Lovely and shiny and well protected by the superbly durable collinite.
I have also got some Hybrid v7, to use over the top as a quick detailer, which on dark cars I have always found to be amazing.

Pictures below.

Really pleased with the shine. The metallic flake in Blu nettuno looks stunning as it glints in the sun.

Interior was treated with the superb gliptone products. Unfortunately though during my over zealous dusting the once perfectly intact beautiful scroll of "maserati" on the ashtray broke! So it is now like most of the others I have seen. Gutted- and I hope the rest of the car isn't as fragile?! I will be on the hunt for replacement ....

Looking forward to some summer blasts and some meets - planning Newby Hall in May. A good while back when I had a Z4MC the Z4-forum was a great community and an enjoyable part of ownership, from what I have seen of this forum, it seems much the same.
