Hi Guys,

Just thought i would introduce myself. My names Lee from Manchester.
I've been viewing the forum on and off now for over a year but only now just registered and thought it was about time i said hello and started posting. This forum seems to be a place for great advice/guidance to fully understand these cars for any prospective owners/existing owners. I'm going to be looking for a 2005+ 4200 (Facelift) or a 2005/2006 GS in Black over the next 12 months or so as a 2nd car for the summer months. I've always had the urge for a GS or 4200 but always been put off because of horror stories over clutch replacement and reliability. Reading through the forum, these horror stories seems to be slightly over exaggerated. I've learht if you do the prework and the PPI this will give me some piece of mind that the car is a potentail good one. I've had my 2005 Audi TT Quattro sport now from new and was going to get rid. Values on these cars in general values are dreadful (80% depreciation from when i bought it) , so I've decided that's staying as the daily winter driver as I've had very little issues with it over the lifetime of ownership.

I keep looking at the following GS as love the colour combo and spec but noticed it seems to fluctuate in price by £3-4K every couple of months and it seems to have been for sale for quite a while (not sure if that's a good or bad thing).

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this car?

Many Thanks

Lee

Welcome.
A nice position to be in and the winter months will be a good time to get a car cheaper but of course stock/ supply will be limited.

The forum is a great way to learn about the cars and it is good to read you have used the database for help.

The car in question looks nice (they all do in photos ) and I like the tech cloth mix on this example. I cant be certain but I know of two cars with this finish. One a good one, the other had lots of issues tbat needed sorting inc a damaged section on the passenger seat. That would be a good starting point for any checks.

Also give Richard Grace a call, he is v.close to you and a sound gent.

Welcome along & happy hunting. I think that the car in question has been discussed before on here but I can't be sure. Good advise from Peter above, give Richard a call who should be able to point you in the right direction - keep us posted

I'll look forward to speaking to you Lee. Not a GS but all I have due in this week is an immaculate 7000 mile 4200 in Rosso/Avorio. It can all change in a day or two, I'm looking for stock at the moment as we've had a busy September.

hi Lee
the clutch in the GS can last a while if gear changes are done correctly, took me a while to get the hang of it - my clutch was installed about 2yr (~8,000+ miles ago and is reading 1% used... I think others on here know how to drive these much better than me and also minimal clutch ware - Benny and Rob being just two I can think of - left me for dust on the back roads in France.

if your after a black GS I know just the one ;) and is very much looked after plus once owned by supermodel Jodie

Lee - if Enzo if selling his you'd struggle to find one better or shinier! (Enzo also does detailing)

A big warm welcome to the forum Lee....

The car you have linked has been for sale for a while now so would imagine some kind of deal could be had...Other than that as the others have said...Speak to Dicky Grace as he is bound to be able to help and is well respected on here.....also Enzo's car is a ******* and you could do a lot worse.....It's well looked after plus famous because of Jodie and its been in a magazine itself....

Welcome Lee & good luck with your search.

I took a year to find my 1 owner facelift 2007 4200 12k miles and very happy with it. The long & patient search was worth it!

I moved in to Maser ownership from an SL55, via a Boxster S but via a 57 plate TT Quattro 3.2 V6 S-tronic so know the TT well. I found the ride on the TT pretty poor & was the main reason I moved out of it also finding it wasn't a very involving/interesting car to drive.

I found the facelift 4200 was my best option as find the GS a little too hard/harsh for me.

Richard Grace is definately the man to speak to as often has very good examples at good pricing with dealer piece of mind. Nareman @ Nuvola is a very nice chap too. His cars tend to be priced top end for very top examples often.

Definitely worth driving both a facelift 4200 & GS though as they are slightly different cars in looks and the way they drive.

Welcome, you are certainly in the right place for info and advice on the cars you are looking for.

Best advice drive a late 4200 and a GS, they are different and both suit different tastes. Once you have driven them both you can narrow your search for exactly the right car.

Thanks guys, that's really helpful. I'm going to try and undertake a test drive of both the 4200 & the GS over the next couple of weeks.

Hi there:

Can anyone help with some advice.
I have been saving for a car for a while, and having compromised in the past (BMW 330D conv) - I want one I really love this time...

Problem being 1) I have a young child (16 months) + associated wife who is not a car love... and 2) It would have to be an every day car.

I would love a maserati.
I have looked at the Ghiblis (hopefully that is not sacrilege on this forum!!) and although the Diesel one would be too much of a compromise - the V6 one is ok and very practical.
I am also considering a 2008 GT - Love how they look and the sound etc

Could anyone let me know what the GT is like to look after as an every day car? Is it usable or is petrol/ servicing a nightmare. I am also worried about the Sat nav unit as I am very dependent on it.

Is the Ghibli too much of a compromise?

Thoughts v much appreciated - big decision ahead!
