So, I'm Chris, I'm in Scotland, and I like British and Italian cars.

Currently, between my wife and I, we are very lucky to have a pair of fun cars, and a pair of nice daily runners in our family.
I have an S1 Elise which I've had for 8 years, and I don't see it going anywhere else soon.
A rough around the edges 944 S2.
An Alfa 159 1.9 Jtdm for daily duties
and my wife has a Panda 100hp which serves as the family car!

I'm having thoughts of selling the 944 and buying a 4200 (possibly 3200 or GranSport) next year, so signed up here to spy on Maserati owners and leech lots of knowledge prior to taking the plunge.

Welcome, you will find a feast of knowledge here. I have just sold my 3200 after 3 years . I still have an Alfa 3.0 GTV and Spider, they will suffice until I get another Trident in a year or so. Where about are you in Scotland? There are a scattering of us up here.

I'm in Dundee, which I think might well be city of no Maseratis!

I've already started reading through technical to see what sort of questions get asked, some interesting stuff :)

Mine was often in Dundee, either picking up Mrs allandwf, or she occasionally took it in herself. There's a gunmetal facelift 4200 localish that you may see out and about.

Welcome Chris,
We are a friendly bunch of quite "normal" folk, apart from a couple of doubtfulls, any questions ask away and we do our best to oblige..!!
Any Maserati you have mentioned is a big step up from a 944 in performance..!!
Cheers

Welcome aboard! Lots of knowledgeable owners on here. Dundee close enough to do the odd fly past Allan in Forfar to make him cry a little when you get one ;) The 3 you mention are IMO all good cars In their own way if you get a sorted one. Worth trying each to see which you prefer since they may look similar but as I said, they are different. Overall The 42 thought of as more sorted than the 32 and the GS thought of as more sorted again. Power? There is not much to pick between them other than the way it is delivered, particularly between the turbo 32 and the other two.
Good luck on your hunt which ever you pick. If you see one you like, post on here and someone will know it I'm sure.

Thanks :)
I appreciate the increase in performance will be very noticeable, though my Elise is quicker than the 944 too. I'm not going to draw comparisons too much as on paper, as in the real world they are obviously very different prospects, but the 4200 is dragging more or less a ton more weight around with it so power to weight isn't actually that different (maybe 20-25hp or so). I suspect the power delivery is a different matter though!

I'd love to come down to Bruntingthorpe, but holidays from work are running short and having just put my Elise back together after a bit of a rebuilt, the windscreen cracked after only 200 miles and I'm still waiting for it to be replaced :(

AndyK, that's a wonderful list of Italian cars there :)

It was just a thought. You could of at least had passenger rides in all the cars you have in mind. Its probably 350 ish miles each way for you. I'm sure some of the Scottish contingent will be able to point you in the direction of any shows that are nearer with a Trident presence.

I'm fairly new to trident ownership myself but loving every minute so far. Your going to have fun deciding between a 3200/4200 and a GS. You've also got the which variant of 4200 to consider. It took me 12 to 18 months to decide and then once I had made my decision the right car came along. I was very lucky with mine. I looked at one earlier in the day which was a nice car but gave me a lot to think about. The car I bought popped up on the radar later the same day and gave me nothing to think about at all. Decision made car duly purchased and miles of smiles since.

If you check out tartantarmac you'll find a breakfast meet between Glasgow and Edinburgh every month. There is always a 4200, QPV and either of my cars there. I can also call on a 3200 for you too. A Gransport is harder to track down as both of mine are now in England. Also try to see Phil Kyle at PK Supercars in Edinburgh. Phil always has 4 or 5 Maserati in for service and also has 2 gransports on site owned by his business partner Nicholas.
