Thanks Emtee - I agree I love the colour combination.

Well it's not quite perfect, but it is in pretty good nick.

It's just broke 40,000 miles, so the odd warning light pops up, but then goes again.

Biggest pain is the aircon, it has just (Sunday) started to heat when on auto (in summer!!!).

If I use manual fan control, it works fine, but is fixed airflow etc.

Cosmetically, I am just replacing all of the badges as they have oxidised. I will get all the wheels refurbished, a friend of a friend has a wheel business and he will do a proper job (collect, tyres off, refurb, spray, lacquer, bake & refit & balance all for £60 - £70 per corner - a winter job as I will give him the wheels for a couple of weeks.

I quite fancy fitting a new grille as well - done it before on an old sports car- think it would look good with 2.5 mm stainless diamond pattern mesh (as on Bentleys)

But stuff for the future - having fun at the moment just driving it

Cheers

Gary

Sounds like a plan to me - is it usually boys only or do partners come along - it's currently the only way I can get my missus in the car, bribing her with a meal or night out - otherwise she thinks I just want to hurtle everywhere, which is completely untrue!!

As I can be in Knutsford in 20 minutes, it would suit me very nicely thank you - but not great for true Northerners I agree - do we have any members North of Manchester?

We're in sunny Southport and up for a "Northern" meet north of Watford Gap services !!

Hi Gary, I'm sure there's a thread on the forum about changing the grill using the Jag' mesh, which can be had for nicks from fleebay. I Know Roger has done his recently and it looks really smart, particularly as Roger also had the chrome-work re-done.

Here's a 'before and after'. Mine's on the left, Roger's on the right.

Cheers, Miles.

I do quite like the GS style front mesh finish......isn't their mesh even further forward though....or? Must look at a few more GS pics!

Yes you're right P, It's a bigger hole and the mesh is much further forward. I must say I prefer Roger's to the GS, you can see the mesh, but it also lets the trident and chrome surround stand off also.

Nothing really to stop you moving the chrome grill surround forward, bar making new retaining screw holes etc....then nearly have the complete GS look! A bit too non-original then though!

Well both look beautiful to me.

But I reckon my grill is looking a bit crummy it's a kind of dirty chromed effect - also (and I am being anal here) the Trident badge is tilted to one side, only slightly and I crave symmetry, so it all has to come out anyway so I can straighten it up - I reckon the existing grill will probably suffer damage when I take it out, so replacement with shiny seems a logical solution to me.

On a techie note, how do you post images on replies? when I click on the icon it offers me a URL link, but how do I get them a url?

Here you go Gary..

Getting the complete grill and surround isn't difficult, but be sure to use masking tape to protect the chrome. Once the unit is out, removing the mesh and trident is also simple and there shouldn't be any damage so long as it's not rusted together. Regarding the mesh, I just sprayed mine with silver paint and then lacquer. It's only subtle, but it does let you see the grill a bit more. Cheers, Miles.

Gary, there is a post on this in maintenance or fixes section....it is quite a wrestling match........4 screws in the upper section, then 3/4 catch type pegs/ clips on the bottom, easy to break....need to WD40 them the day before to ease them, mask up and be prepared for a hefty pull/levering.....but take your time....wear gloves when pulling the mesh, let us know how you get on!
