You say that but people who don't like driving still shell out for £30-40k German wagons as they see them as fashion accessories and show how 'on tech' they are. Nothing wrong with a Polo if you don't like driving IMHO.

German cars have become "the norm" for everyone driving.....we prob all own a german car??

I cant believe how they control the market.....if you ask me honestly what the best daily is (ie reliable, economical) id prob say anything Japanese but somehow i found myself drawn to the BMW like everyone else....Great marketing, as most of these German brands are not that reliable.....

I have a confession. I have owned one German car. It was a VW and was the most expensive car after the Ghibli that I've bought.

I regretted buying almost as soon as I drove it out of the dealership.

The most reliable car was, strangely, the RX-8. Just heavy on fuel for how I was using it.

Never owned and never wanted to own a BMW. Don't know why. Driven a few but left me cold even the performance versions.
Pal had a couple of Alpina versions but even they didn't do it for me.

Fair enough, im the same with Audi, hate them....atleast the BMs could be fun if driven well

I hate both Audi's and BMW's.
Alex had a 3 Series M Sport, which was an awful car to drive, probably made worse on run-flats.
She's now got an Audi Q3 which is very uninspiring and rather dull.

On the flip side, my Merc is a cracking car for what I want it to do, as it spends most of it's life up and down motorways with the cruise control on.
Is it exciting? Not really. And it's being reliable so far, but then motorway mileage shouldn't stress it at all.

To say you hate an Audi and then a BMW is quite a statement based on the fact that they (BMW more so) make some truly wonderful drivers cars in the form of RS and M respectively. I hate the euro boxes (320d, A4 TDI etc) and general run of the mill models but the flagship RS and R8 cars are truly fantastic.

What an absolutely ridiculous way to fine motorists, how discriminatory is means testing!?!

Seems fair to me Andy , that in those circumstances Liz should the take the point and pay the prize money
