New Quattroporte, Is it an Audi?

I was lucky enough to be in Geneva last week and took the opportunity to go to the Motor Show. Naturally I made a beeline to the Maserati stand to look at the new Quattroporte. It was nestled in the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Ferarri section, but what a dissapointment. Their choice of colours for the car, Gold, Aubergine, Silver and White, did nothing for the cars, but on closer inspection, it wasn't the colours, it was the car itself. The new QP has become bit bland, with the back of an Audi S5 with an interior layout that looks like an IPad dock. None of your idiosynchratic buttons or overindulgent radio controls. Everything is on your IPad touch screen, probably nicked the idea from a Peugeot or Skoda. The car not only looks clunky now, but they seem to have downgraded the equipment. Where my QP opens when you put your hand in the handle and touch the buttons, it now requires you to pull the handle, like a VW Polo. When you open or unlock the car, this huge button pops up and down, not discretely, but like something you'ld expect to find in an Ann Summers shop and the chrome parts are made from plastic. Considering that the price for a basic 4.2V* is in the region of £110k, you would be better off, buying a Panamera (Did I actually say that?).

Well, my current car was my first Maserati and I couldn't start to describe the elation I felt when I got it. It was unique, it was the most beautiful car I'd ever had and the sound it emitted was truly out of the world. I was always ignoring my Sat Nav so that I could drive through a tunnel. Sadly, my Maseratit will be my last, as there's no way that new QP will give me those feelings again.

On a positive note, at least the members of this forum will increase as every ex Audi or Volvo driver will probably get one. This car is going to attract a different type of person, unlike us mad fools!!

Maybe I shouldn't have gone to the Motor show - However I did fall in love with a Fisker Karma, which not only looks like the Mutt's Nuts but also saves the planet. However there's no need to drive through a tunnel with that one, you'ld never realise that you had. But I am sure it will still attract the attention that my Maserati always does.

Regards Fred

Yes is the answer..It's an Audi.....Have a look at the engine cover and there is a top range Audi which looks the same....You have the last of the stunning designed QP...Keep hold as it may be a while before another comes along.

That M4 is going to be a great car if the latest M5 and the 1M Coupe is anything to go by.

Seen a few renderings but not an official pic....The 4 series Coupe looks great so making it into an M should mean it will look stunning....
