Hi Everyone,

I am new Maserati owner having just purchased a GS LE edition and wanted to introduce myself, these cars are completely new to me having owned mainly JDM imports etc and i have a few questions about things i have noticed and i wanted to know if anyone could confirm if this is normal?

1 - After driving hard and then sitting in traffic the oil pressure drops below 1.0 and sometimes the red light appears. It soon disappears again when normal driving is resumed?

2 - The car rumbles at idle where i actually move in the car slightly caused by the torque effect is this normally or should it be perfectly smooth where i feel no movement?

3- Its cold here now in the UK but i have the heating on full fan and nothing comes out unless i am moving at high speed?

4- When using the windscreen washers i get a foul smell in the cabin?

Any feedback on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Welcome Mike!

1. Oil pressure sender is fubared get it swapped out.
2. Sounds like the fans kicking in, they roar like **** on the 4200!
3. Do the diagnostic check on your heater dials to see if there is an error code.
4. What is in the washer bottle?

Welcome along Mike. Where are you located? Perhaps somebody nearby could meet up and give you an opinion on what's normal and what's not.

Morning Mike and welcome to the madness...

Almost certainly it needs new filters, even if the service book says it has had annuals and mains I would check the alternative parts thread on here and get yourself oil, oil filter, copper washers, air filter, aux belt and most importantly for your sanity, a pollen filter and either do it yourself or hover over a mechanic whilst they do them for you. Should be less than 2 hours for a mechanic or a morning for yourself but you will know they have been done. Oil sender is the prime suspect for misreading but also old oil thins and sludges!

For a quick assessment of the quality of servicing done, lift the bonnet and look at the condition of the auxiliary belt, if you can see it polished up or worse surface cracked you have a fair indication it has been skimped.

Guides for all these jobs are on here with a little research. Good luck and don't be intimidated by what lays under the bonnet :D

Sounds like it may have been sat for a while before you bought it.

Washer fluid may be stagnant. Drop in a false teath cleaning tablet leave over night then drain by holding the washer spray on....re fill with fresh water and empty out again then re fill with concentrate wash fluid and water.

Re the heater - check the floor for any damp as the matrix is known to crack. If it is, sadly a dash out job.

Hi Mike,
Great choice of car.
I have some alternative thoughts to consider -
1 could be low oil level
2 I had a rattle at idle that turned out to be a dead cat converter after a track day. Thought it could have been torque tube bearings but wasn't
3 rare problem that I've had. Your interior fan isn't working because of a loose connection just above and to the left of the fuse boxes in the passenger footwell. The heat coming through at speed is just airflow. Jiggle the bundle of wires going into the connection. I've had to do this 3 times over 2 years. At recent service it stopped again. The electrician recommended replacing the fan which I have just bought. You'll know when it's fixed when you turn key to get ready to start the fan will commence. No fan means bad connection.
4 haven't had that one.

IP address coming back as Newcastle

Mike, did you buy from a dealer or private?

Have you got a link to the adverts?

Welcome to the forum, we will get you sorted so don't stress about it.

I wouldn't put too much faith into IP geolocating Matt. My UK home fixed IP generally suggests I'm in Scotland or Sheffield, neither of which is true.

Mine will say Nottingham, I expect

Which is actually correct, sort of

Hi guys,

Thanks for the welcome and the advice on my questions! I have had the car for a week now and bought it from a Maserati Ferrari dealership, the car come with 6 months full warranty but i have it booked into have a health check at JCT600 in Leeds to be sure everything is ok.

I checked the passenger foot well and its bone dry so i will check the plug connection for the fan to see if it is loose. The car had a complete service by Maserati just before i collected it but i know it had been standing a while which could explain the smell coming from the washer system. Oil and filters are clean along with the belt which has recently been changed.

I am based in Newcastle and will add some pictures soon!

Cheers

Mike
