Oh and the the handbrake is a separate set of shoes inside the rear disk, and these also have a habit of sticking, use them once a year to get through the MOT :)

Lol. With the auto, I can't remember the last time I used the handbrake so God knows what mines are like!

Never understood taking a car in if there is a chance of failure Dave! Get it sorted before rather than relying on luck! Remember people can see the history these days on web and a fail doesn't look good for future sale of the car IMO.

I'm pretty sure this used to park regularly down my road. If so, it's certainly a pretty one and the colour is unusual in a good way.

Binding pad in caliper no doubt had it on mine. Remove pads and make sure they sit properly, probably dirt in there.

Those disks have seen better days get your name down on the third group buy where you can get a set of 4 for £200 odd. BARGAIN!!!

Also order the Mintex pads at around £40 a set.

You may want to looks the pad guides before ordering brake pads. The reason pads stick on brembo calipers is quite clear once you know. The calipers are aluminium and the guides stainless steel, brAke dust gets behind the guide and corrodes the aluminium and pushed against the guide which in turn pushes against the pad. The only way to resolve this is replace the guides, as I have done. Not a bad job but the calipers need to be removed. There is a thread with photos FYI.

I do love these cars. I bought mine in 2008 and kept her for 7 years.
Had issues in the early days but once sorted she ran excellent and I had full faith in her.

^ +1 Had mine 3 1/2 years, it got used, and was the better for it. A few people commented on how well she drove. When I buy my replacement I certainly won't be looking for low mileage, false economy imho.
