I guess my point is that I have used the same MOT centre for years and never had any issue and I trust them. It's not something I specifically ask for. And that includes many other LSD equipped cars. Every RWD car I've had bar my yank tank Plymouth had an LSD or electronically activated clutch pack type diff.

The Plymouth was most disappointing when you tried to do a burn out and ended up with a one tyre fire!

4WD cars like my urquattro I did ask/MOT always noted. A novelty on that was that I could lock both the centre and rear diff manually using a vacuum switch. Not to be mucked about with unless you are on a loose surface or stuck really.

Will the past owner of my car and others specifically have asked the MOT tester either, I doubt it.

The difference here is the type of diff. Most will be torque sensing and won’t have an issue. The diff in the GS is a plate type, which uses clutches with friction material to limit the speed difference between the wheels. If you turn one wheel and lock the other you wear the plates.

You should do what you want, but it does cause wear if it’s done on the rollers and as the diff is in the gearbox it’s painful to sort out.

OK will ask next time just in case.

Have been itching to get out to some car meets in the GS but don't seem to have managed anything yet. Think I need another mini road trip :)

A quick trip out to a cars and coffee this morning, at Bicknacre (Essex, near Danbury) Good Coffee and a pretty good selection of stuff. No regrets about not being one of the many similar aged 911’s there. Also saw an 02 plate 4200 Manual…. Not sure if a forum member or not.

On the way back to entertain myself I tried what I thought would be a small burnout, I was amazed at how easily she lit up in 1st gear, on demand etc. 1st gear almost seems too short to do a really decent one though. Made me snigger like Mutley though :)

Had the day off last week to run some errands, thought I’d stop off at the relatively new Caffeine and Machine at Bedford for lunch.

It was mid day on a Thursday but even so properly deserted, nice to have a look. It seemed like a quite nice venue, food was pretty basic but I guess that’s to be expected.

Anyone with anything really low might not enjoy the exit, quite an incline, probably does slow people down when they leave though. They have their “don’t be a dick signs”

Did enjoy the road from Buntingford to Baldock, some lovely bends/cambers and the sun came out oh so briefly.

Might have to try going to an event at C&M at some point to see what it’s really like.

View attachment 124572These look familiar @Guy

Thanks also @dickygrace for arranging

They feel impressively light actually, presume a bit lighter than the stock boxes.

Will be interesting to see how they sound, I have secondary cat delete and x pipe in place already….
What great taste in exhaust systems you have Angus! I kept them clean for you! I had the x-pipe but not the cat delete so will be interesting to hear how they sound. I very much prefer the look of them over standard too.
BTW I forgot to congratulate you on the news of your fatherhood. Now I suggest you may need to push the GS down the road before starting it or incur the wrath of Mrs Urquattrogus when you wake your offspring!

Thanks Guy, yes we’ll have to see whether it is too loud or not! Having the switchable valves hopefully gives some control, I’m planning on installing a vacuum remote to be able to open/close the flaps independent of sport mode. The looks and perhaps a slight change in tone are what I’m after. Will keep the standard boxes though.

I got a bit carried away on my 3200 with Larini, overspent on the full system Inc sports cats, was it worth it? Not really for the big cost at the time but sometimes my enthusiasm gets the better of me!

Only a couple of weeks away from baby due date now so maybe these exhaust boxes will still be sat in the box! Watching the dad cars YouTube he has a three row bench seat in the back of the gransport for kids!

No isofox but I think it’s cool that the gransport does have some space for family and is new enough to feel safer than some older cars - all the more reason to try and make sure I keep the car :)

As for my wife; she’s knew what she signed up for with the noisy cars, although better watch waking the baby!

I really think you/they/them will find it too loud for said baby especially in the back , just to let you know im waiting in the wings should you decide to sell said system and revert back to standard , im sure said baby and wifey will appreciate me sticking my neck out here , all in the name of said peace and quiet for the environment

All depends on the baby. One of mine like nothing better than mechanical noise...washing machine, motorcycle, car...to be lulled to sleep

Fitting the rear boxes today. One of those jobs that always takes longer than you allow for. Needed care not to shear any bolts off and then the fiddly adjusting bit.

Lasted a few hours today before for I though F it and went home to open a cider.

Have taken as sound video for before and after purposes, also the compulsory what does it sound like with no rear boxes.

It hasn’t done any harm to have the rear arch liners off and hover out the dust and gravel.

This is all for Baby’s listening pleasure, he is going to love the improved tone and volume when I come down the driveway…..

To be continued…

Well, I hope baby loves it as much as dad does!

With the due date imminent I’m pleased I managed to finish off the job in between nesting activities.

So it’s secondary cat delete and x pipe into the Larini rears.

Fitting a Larini to a Gransport is maybe a bit 2005, many of you have probably been there done that got the T shirt etc, but wow - Went for a short drive and holy cow it’s one of the loudest cars I’ve had, rivals my de catted Griff for volume now. It’s almost obnoxiously loud on the road now. Downshifts sound amazing! Lots of pops and runs on the overrun too, and not the manufactured kind of today.

The tone is fantastic, deep burble and hollow, it sounds best on part throttle and doe change, maybe a bit of a blare, under full load. I’ve been on a dual carriageway quickly and thankfully there is a not a drone which is something that has annoyed the **** out of me on other cars.

I think I need to make sure I install a switch that operates independently of the Sports mode so I can have it slightly quieter if needed which having Sports mode still.

Have tried to buy that kit From Larini, put an order in 3 weeks ago but have heard nothing, sounds similar to my dealings with Larini when I bought the 3200 exhaust, the word recalcitrant comes to mind…
