My inspection report

I have a cracked steering boot on my list - I honestly have no idea what a steering boot is in the first place!

Probably means the flexible rubber bellows that protects the joints in the steering rack. That's actually quite a useful thing to know as replacing it immediately prevents all the grease being replaced by grit and causing a far more expensive issue.

I thought it was a way of turning the steering wheel without using your hands

Just had an estimate for the essential repairs for the car from Autofficina and with VAT it came out at just over £5k but the part that shocked me the most was £1,483 plus VAT for the offside door seal that was ripped at the bottom! Is that a misquote? I have not gone any further with this car so still on the look out...

When Emblem carried out my inspection it was to a similar level of detail, however they walked me through every statement and expanded more detail on areas of concern. They also provided a summary of condition based on their experience against other examples of similar age and Matt was also provided with the same report.

I would prefer to know all problems even the missing piece of red plastic from the positive terminal of the battery

Is the red plastic cover ever still on the terminal? I think there's a black market in them (but where they end up, given that they're never on the terminal is a mystery - perhaps they're an essential component in cooking meth): Part number 185418, £5.44+VAT.

Mines there! I know as I ripped of some skin with it whilst trying to put the battery in!

A door seal by the sounds of it , I'd be glueing the door shut before I gave anybody £1800 for 10ft of rubber seal

I bet the door seal on a nuclear submarine doesn't cost that much

Whilst not a Maserati, this is well worth a look for those going into purchasing a specialist car "blind" and without a PPI
