3 years on time to change again.
She currently has an Audi A3 Sportback 140TDI Sport, and last time a VW 5 Door Golf GTD.
The choice is between Audi, VW, BMW, Skoda and Volvo.
The model range from A1 to A5 Sportback, Golf to CC, 1 series to 5 series saloon, S60 to XC60.
Generally up to early £30K in value, with no personal contribution needed.
She isn't interested at all what she wants, "just pick one darling"!!

Presently considering:

Audi A3 2.0TDI 184 SLine
VW Golf 2.0 GTDI
Volvo S60 D4 SE Lux Nav or R-Design Nav

Got to think about BIK, and Volvo is v.good over the next 3 years, better than the Audi/VW
Rather have a top spec medium car instead of a basic spec large car....we of course have the Maser and my oil burner BMW.

Any thoughts on the above?

Bmw is the only one that'll live upto the mpg value quoted. I have a very simular selection and honestly, I'm
Considering a Skoda superb elegance tdi 180 estate. All the toys you could ever want, lowish emissions and retail value.

That or the passat gt tdi estate. I love my bmw but as it's approaching 100k it's becoming very clunky and bits are falling off. That said nothing is ever too much at my local dealership, it's been the best service I've known.

I would of had the volvo if it was still on my list...

Too much choice really!
The BMW 1 series are ugly, the 2 series active tourer worth a look maybe, don't want two 3 series on the drive!

Of those on your list I think I would go for the S60. To be fair, I've not driven any of the current model Volvos, but have had S40, S60, S80 and V70xc as company hacks in the past. The D5 was astounding for a soot chucker (of it's era) and the T5 was interesting too. They were all pretty well screwed together and comfortable. If the current range is as good I don't think you'd go too far wrong.

You have to consider a trade off between comfort, style, spec and most importantly tax considerations! First look at CO2 emissions in the group and also list price. If I had a choice of those brands as a company car I would be looking at a Golf 5Dr or a 3 series Bimmer both in the oil burning class.

If money was not a consideration the choice would be much easier, either a Golf R of BMW M135i or maybe even a Seat Leon Cupra R.

They are all oil burners, and all around £85/month BIK as she is in the 20% tax bracket working 4 days a week part time.
Might check out the BMW 2 series active tourer, the 218d Luxury is on the list, might be a bit different, some nice features.
Would two BMW's on the drive be a bit German though?!

Just picked up an SL500 for Mrs Catalan. 55 plate, loaded, 49k, 4 new tyres and just £11k. She recently had an SLK250 on lease. Paid for 10k miles a year and she covered less than 7k over 2 years. Jeez. At those mile ages who cares how much fuel it uses?

Out of the 3 you have mentioned...Volvo for me.....The best looking out of the 3 for me...Volvo make great looking cars these days...Its comfy as well....The Audi is just a boring drive and they have always left me cold...The Golf is good as well though in GTDi form. My friend has one as a company car with paddle shift and it is really good.....but I nearly fell off my chair when he said it cost nearly 30k....FOR A GOLF.........SO out of the 3 Volvo for me.............plus the other two are every where on the road......

But you need to add the 2 series in that list as you have said as that may be the one.

Just got Atilla an A3 1.6d sline after 18 months in an A1(way too small and £6k more for an A3? It's a different league, small cars are a rip off )

Had a Volvo 40 as a hire car, awful, felt like sitting in a bus, everything felt wrong.
Vw's at work, very boring zero style and too clinical.
Never driven a BMW

A3 has 2yr 20k servicing intervals. Dealer experience wasn't good tho. But that only lasted a few days

I got 60 mpg on a motorway trip at 70mph. But it's only done 1k

You can cut a good deal at Audi with free add ons at the bargaining stage.

Or as was said buy an older monster car

The new Volvos are well sorted cars, they have some nice specs and good engines that would be my choice.

VOLVO VOLVO VOLVO VOLVO VOLVO VOLVO

Did I mention the VOLVO?

I have a v40 D3 R-Design Nav and the wife has a brand new XC60 D4 R-Design Nav. We also have an old XC90 kicking about in the family still.

My v40 is nearly 2 years old and built prior to the ace new d4 engine which I would have chosen in a heartbeat if it was available.

My suggestion is to actually consider a specced v40 d4 r-design nav lux alongside the s60. It's more similar in size to her outgoing Audi and the chassis etc are ace.

Don't be a sheep, choose classy Swedish design and mega build. Of, it's also the highest rated NCAP ever tested. If she's ever carrying anything valuable, such as children, this is something that could be invaluable.

Vulvas? If you buy one, you've admitted to the world that you have grown old and given up.

Even from distance I can still reach out and slap you for that. You don't know what you're missing old man.

How's the scuttle shake on your noisy mistress?
