Still looking for my GT, so another search on autotrader this evening.

Noticed one of the first new GTs on the market, but listed next to one of the last old GTs on my search... thats some price difference over 4 years!

I've never bought a brand new car even though my father had a few and he was my greatest influence.
I like value for money some people would say I'm tight but for me the buzz is driving something nice that previous owners paid £££ €€€ for.
I know which one I would have out of those two Peter the blue one.

I love the new car think it looks fantastic and a good step forward design wise but black really doesn’t do it any favours. Think the lighter colours may be better. That interior is lovely though and a massive step forward.

180k though is a lot of pennies. A used MC20 starts lower than that and I know which I would prefer.

I think the market changed over the years. I don't know many people who buy a new car these days, most are appear to be leased or bought through a business.

I agree, and of course we are not comparing apples with apples here... but at >£2k a month just to cover depreciation, you need to have seriously deep pockets or be very smitten with the brand/cat.

Just nuts, but the cost of new cars nowadays is astonishing
That’s exactly why it isn’t too bad considering the price of cars now.
Someone sent me the price of some “special” Volkswagen Golf the other day, it was £65,000+ FFS..

This inflation calculator shows a 2010 £100k GT would now cost £146k today so £180k is truly a jump

I’ve shown some figures for the 3200 like this a couple of years back on here and it had doubled over 20 years. Something I’ve started to realise as I get older is how you have to recalibrate the value of money. From houses that I find astonishingly expensive, to new cars, right down to the fact that a a pint isn’t £3 any more and especially recently, as inflation has been rampant; it’s hard to get your head around. Flip side of it still is there’s still some amazing cars out there that show what you can get for the price of a ‘insert any new modern car’. But your point about the new GT shows that manufacturers think they can ask silly numbers as people will pay it. Thing is, I don’t think they will now, in enough numbers, and it’ll be back to the time with discounts and heavy depreciation on some models of Maserati. It’ll be like when you could get £20k-80k off a car post the 2009 financial troubles. It’s all about timing as we all know, but the numbers just seem huge for a new anything.

Have to agree. Finance is no longer cheap as chips so not sure how many people could / want to afford the depreciation hit on a new GT. The MC20 seems to have dropped a lot and is plentiful in used supply but the GT as a coupe has always taken a much bigger hit on the used market than a sports / supercar so could be very painful.

A neighbour just took delivery of a BMW 3 series company car , 320e maybe , petrol hybrid

I was astonished when it said it was over 50k , it's nice but £50,000 for a run of the mill saloon is just nuts

Not much I see as value in the new car world currently. An i20N seemed pretty good value at 25k when they came out last year. A mid range 3 series seems mad at 50k, makes the new type R seem a good buy for the same price. At least they will hold their value well.
We managed to get one of these, which are great at 30k new. Will be a very cheap long term ownership proposition I reckon, as well as being great driving machine.

what is it

I though it was a MG cyberster at first

don't know how much they cost but if it's not mad money I think they'll sell a lot of them
