Modern Maserati DIY maintenance

I have been toying with the idea of replacing the family 5 series with a QP VI but I wonder how easy or hard it is to work on these cars, since I enjoy maintaining and fixing cars.
Especially on the electronic modules.
I love the fact that in the BMW I can use the dealer software to pretty much talk to any control module.
I know that I won’t have that level of access on a modern Maserati but what can I expect to have?

The easymas software seems to be a good starting point, although not many modules are available.

Opinions from DIY owners welcome :)

Alfa OBD is meant to be able to do just about anything the current range. Also the AP-200 which is much cheaper. I've not tried mine yet but will be

A lot will depend on the year. From 2018 they are fitted with the irritating secure gateway which limits what you can do with an OBD

Does it? I thought you just needed the bypass cable which (predictably) are two a penny on Amazon

Yes thats right. Is it easy to get to? From what Ive seen its a bit of a pain?

I think they are literally next day. Hang on....

45 seconds. Now to be *absolutely* fair I don't *know* that one would work but there's not much reasons to suggest it won't. Plenty of suggested examples on the other place.

I don't really understand what the point in this kind of thing is. Clearly so easy to bypass in this age of instant access to electronics <shrug>

Although I appreciate the satisfaction gained from working on cars (been there done that but I'm now too old and decrepit to bother), I can't see why any lack of access to modules would be a barrier to ownership, especially on a modern car such as a VI which is pretty well sorted.

is that 100% 2018 onwards ? im having issues using Alfaobd on my 2015 ghibli

2019 I *think*
Is this your "proxi alignment" issue? If so I'd start a new thread detailing where you are

PS I am >99.99% sure the Alfaobd won't be able to do the proxi alignment, but I'm also not sure that's your issue either.

The AlfaOBD won't talk to the engine ECU on my 2015 3.8 GTS even though it lists the M156 as being compatible. The only engine option it gives me is for a Bosch diesel unit...
