Initial trial in Northamptonshire apparently. To be widely adopted in future....

“Police say unmarked speed camera vans encourage consistently safe driving rather than the yo-yo effect of drivers slowing down for brightly coloured speed camera vans, then speeding up again afterwards.”

********. Once we’ve passed the grey one we’ll do the same.

Definitely against the spirit of “road safety” cameras.

I’ve seen it, well known round here. An old Citroen van with a dark grey wrap? It might as well be dayglo.

Don’t speed. Then you won’t get caught.

To be honest, it’s almost pointless to try anyway given the volume of traffic. Just leave the Maserati in 2nd or 3rd gear all the time and listen to the noise.

Police bike unobtrusively on a bridge over the a 3-lane section of the A303 on Friday. Rider with a speed gun. Lots of flashers in the oncoming traffic

Thanks, I'll be on the 303 on Friday. Whereabouts was the bike sitting? I saw a number of unmarked police cars on the A34 today so perhaps they are having a purge ahead of their summer holidays!

The government could solve the speeding problem quite easily double the speed limits on the motorways and round town no more silly tickets would be issued and to save the tax payer more cash they could get rid of the traffic police because they will be out of a job .
Problem sorted..

I do agree that the whole 'highly visible speed cameras' thing seems to be nonsense if speed in general is a terrible thing. If the government was serious about speeding, almost all speed cameras would be mobile and stealthy. It's an absurd compromise.

It astonishes me that speed cameras pop up all over the place and yet running red traffic lights has become the norm around here which is far more dangerous than exceeding the speed limit by 10% in my opinion anyway. A lot of major junctions have cameras to monitor traffic flow so upgrading the cameras can’t be too much of problem. They’d pay for themselves in the first day around these parts.

If speed was such a killer, I would have been dead years ago. Speed cameras are such an easy/cost-effective way of raising money.

'Not knowing how to drive properly,' in my book, is the big problem - but who knows how to fix that?
You're advocating for autonomous cars there... Be careful!
