Missing ECU & TPMS fault: Related?

Hello everyone
I am after a little bit of advice/guidance please. I have a 2009 QP 4.7S with a TPMS light on, surprise surprise!
I looked in the little compartment under the passenger carpet & found.....nothing.
I looked under the driver mat & found a large ECU, possibly too large for TPMS.

My question is thus, does anyone know what, if anything, is missing?
If it isn't the TPMS ecu missing, which one is?
If it isn't the TPMS ecu, where would I find it please?

For clarity, my car is a UK RHD model, in case it makes a difference to the location.

I have attached a couple of pictures to share what I see.......
Thank you in advance.

Hello, it's further backwards from that opening , towards the seat. You have to move the one you can see out of the way.

Fun times ahead for you sir!

I thought it was a very simple system, 4 TPS's & an ECU?
I also thought it was worth exploring the possibilities of repairing it, in case of something simple?
But yes, I also thought of coding it out but assumed it needed an ECU there in the first place?

Does that suggest that nothing is missing from the other side then?

I can't remember 100% but im pretty sure there was nothing on my passenger side.

Here is a pic from removing mine

https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/help-tpms-ecu-removal.36157/

I think people are generally coding it out these days as the replacement parts are getting expensive and can start to become a merry go round replacing parts for things to fail again somewhere else in the system .

That said, I'm pretty sure it's the ECU's going more often then not. I read some idea that the longer the ECU has to live with an error with a sensor , the more chance of the ECU corrupting itself and becoming a paper weight. Who knows.

Code reader is must to diagnose , something cheap like Autel AP200 can read the modules ok enough to diagnose.

They must be able to code out the ecu completely so whether it is there or not it wont matter I am guessing.

Mine is coded out.
You are snookered if your car is Jan 2012 onwards though I believe, as it’s a mandatory fit, hence must work for mot after that. I think?
Luckily mine is sept 2011!

Hmmm. My Strad is late 2013 and not fitted. It might be, must work if fitted same as headlight washers are.

Friendly mot tester required?!

Found this too. It’s all a bit confusing!
As the granturismo wasn’t a ‘new model’ in 2012 I guess it didn’t actually need tpms by law until late 2014. But I guess if it was fitted, after 2012 it would have to be working.

Thanks to the information offered here I found it, hiding under the large ECU on the drivers side (UK).
Disconnected, reconnected & I now have comms! The codes suggest it needs re programming as the live data now shows tyre pressures.
Thank you for your input everyone, much appreciated.

Someone else posted that they disconnected then reconnected & it worked so I thought I'd try it. Before, when I pressed the button I would get error lights & messages on the dashboard. Now it says recalibrating with a green light, so definitely worth the 10 minutes to get to the connector.
I have a friend who thinks they can reprogram it so fingers crossed

Right hand of the boot (as you look in) behind the square panel just back of the OS rear arch.
