It's amazing what the human body can do to repair itself over time..!!
One of the most amazing survival stories comes from a friend of mine - Trevor Greene. He was a captain in the Canadian Forces in Afganistan.
One fateful day, he on a goodwill mission in a small town with the "elders" sitting in a circle. It would be considered rude if he left his helmet on so he removed it.
A short time later a 15-16 year old kid came at him from behind and buried an axe in his head - so much so that his brain was not only exposed, but bits were lost as well.
Needless to say his injury should have been fatal, but somehow he survived!! An amazing survival story of an amazing guy to be sure.
He is now living here in Nanaimo where he and his wife had another child!! He is still in a wheelchair and has a slight speaking impairment, but has every bit of his intelligence intact! The type of guy he is can be summed up with his thoughts on the kid that attacked him (and consequently shot dead by his squad right after the attack). Trevor deeply regrets that the kid was killed, stating that he was just a kid! Amazing man...amazing story! (here's link about him)

Like Robert said it truly is amazing what the human body can do!
It gives some real hope that Michael will pull through!!
