Hi all, My 2011 MC Shift with 30k ish miles has slipped out of gear twice today. Once from 3rd into N. I drive 95% in central London, always in manual and always pop into N at the lights.. Doesn't happen all the time. Quick word with a specialist says it may need re-calibration? Any one had similar issues? Any thoughts? Cheers

Hi, and welcome.

I'm on 33k miles and clutch is 60% worn. Seems ok, but who knows when it might give up!

Resetting the PIS point would probably be a good place to start. 5 or 10 min job for a MD, I think. Did you buy from one and /or are you near one?

Question: when you start it do you turn the ignition on, wait for the dash warning lights to go out and then turn the key to start the engine? I *think* that also helps readjust the clutch. But it's possible I'm a bit wrong / it wouldn't make any difference anyway.

Cheers. That's really helpful. I bought privately around 7 months ago, when it had roughly 50% clutch life left. My usual start up sequence is 'throttle-to-floor' x3 before starting which does seem to help make for a smoother start.

Try just leaving it until the ignition warning ights go out. It will have the same effect without accellerator pumping action! The accelerator pumping action is simply a method to make you wait long enough for the clutch to calibrate (signified by the warning lights on the dash going out) before you start it. A dealer visit to get the clutch reset might improve things generally.

Agreed with the above, also get the gearbox cycled when you have the clutch calibrated.

The clutch on the GTS has been amazing and I am still yet to hear if a failure or replacement.

It's the biggest issue with our beloved 4200's

If you haven't yet found a friendly local MD or indie then it's worth having one you're pally with so you can swing by when needed and get them to plug it into the diagnostics to root out any quirks.

Get your butt up to see Geoff at Shiltech Viov, he'll sort you out and we can meet up at the same time and go for a play in the Strad - you know you want to! :goodnews:

MY QP Sport with the F1 Clutch ( same friction plate as the MC) was replaced at 36k car was used in Ldn Traffic so it may be replacement time.
If reverse is becoming jerky & less progressive that is the tall tale.
BTW worth checking the engine & gearbox mounts at the same time.
Cheers

Nothing at all. Just needed a recalibration as it wasn't sitting right. Still has an impressive 51% clutch
