Maseratis on sale at cost price

Just received an email from the local MD, saying that they will sell me a car at cost price. Customers will pay what the dealer pays for the car, and they will show the paperwork to prove it.

Car must be registered before March 31st 2017 to qualify.

That's some deal if anyone is looking for a new Maser!

Sales push to entice new customers before the new VED changes? Nah can't see that?! How odd, does this apply to the Levante too?

Depends how much margin they have I guess. Don't think there is much in new car sales these days is there? Perhaps this why there are happy to run an open book policy. Certainly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Ideal for someone just about to pull the trigger.

You not tempted then Drew? Trouble is what do you buy out of the current offerings?

It doesn't qualify it to specific models, but I really can't see it applying to the Levante. I can see the other cars given a push, but surely not a brand new model?!

I'm not about to buy a brand new car, so it's not tempting me. Hopefully someone else here might be able to take advantage.

Sounds a good deal to someone in the market - I wonder if they have any new, un-registered GTs out the back they could dust off for someone!?

Perhaps the dealers are getting a rebate after the original cost price they will show you provided they move X number of units by said date.

The other version would be they get a kick back from Maserati if they sell say 100 units per quarter and they are looking like coming in short. Either way its probably not really an at cost price. Its at cost prior to a target related kick back.

I guess after the front end margin but not the back end - volume related- one. It's a good way of shifting physical stock but it depends on spec. Personally I prefer a factory order to get what I want as the discount would still be good and might be as much....who knows. Anyway I'm waiting for the new coupe.

I was at Dick Lovetts earlier today and mention this deal, they're not doing it, however, it's for cars built before September, so existing stock that doesn't meet the new emission regulations.
Car built after September meet the regs, that includes some GT's.

With regards to the GT facelift, they expect it at the end of the year, with the new coupe at the end of 2018.

Yet another contradictory report, other MDs are saying no facelift and the GT is absolutely finished - who knows what's right and what's not - but if the emissions regulations issue is correct, the facelift will need to involve the engine too!

When were you there Mark?

I was in at lunchtime collecting my new Ghibli petrol.

Only just. I went in to look at the Levante.

Have to say, it's rather nice. Inside and out, even in the odd shade of green they have in the showroom.

Congrats on the Ghibli. Where's the GS gone?
