Maserati Modena factory tour?

Hi Everyone

I am doing a euro road trip in the maser in July and I am going to be spending a day in Modena to go to restaurant Osteria Franchescana, can't wait!
I thought that seen as I am in the city getting a tour of the Masersti factory would be a great idea as I have heard great things about seeing the factory etc.

Does anyone have any advice on how to organise this or any tips in general about the factor tour? I presume you can't just rock up and get a tour and that it has to be booked in advance?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Hi Craig, I was there kast Monday.....YOu will need to get a friendly dealer to get you in. Factory tours are available through them but it's normally reserved for customers. I managed to get in due to my contacts in VOSA and a few others have been but through their dealer.......

Hi Craig
I was there last month - excellent time had. Would also highly recommend Antica Moka restaurant if you can get a 2nd night booked in Modena.
If you PM me I will look up the contact details you need to get into factory tour. I booked a few months in advance, hope you haven't left it too late.
Are you also intending to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini, Panini etc. as well?

Did the Ferrari one two years OK.....That's another dealer one so your Maserati dealer may be able to sort that as well......

Simon, how did you get to do the Lamborghini one....That's one for nest year I think.

Andy - I contacted Lamborghini via their website contact details - have to say it was excellent and I highly recommend it. The level of detail that goes into making a Lambo is something else and highly impressive. They have a museum at the front of the factory which had some great cars to droll over. There's another Lambo museum called Ferruccio Lamborghini you may want to include in your trip which I'm told is well worth a tour and will defo be included in my next trip as well as Pagani.
Did you get to see the 4C production line? A couple were getting test driven around the factory which sounded great.

Yes, bloody loads of them.....Counted around 60 within the factory....They sounded lovely...

What surprised me was how small the place was but then it was only an assembly plant with no manufacturing. Plus it wasn't as high tech as Ferrari....I did chuckle when the very nice chap said that the floor of the assembly plant didn't have an oil on the floor or any dirt ot nut and bolt....Right by Liz's foot was a nut....Hehehehehe...It was great though and seeing the cars in the finishing area/testing are was one of the best bits....Watching the young lady on the rolling road take a 4C up to 100 and brake hard was good........

Lots of white and black GT's but there was a very bright orange MC Stradale waiting for delivery. The guide said he had only seen 1 other orange car leave the factory.......A great 2 hours and probably once in a lifetime opportunity.

Saw three 4Cs at the Scottish Italian Car day. Had not appreciated how short it was and how the flanks make it look even shorter. Not a great review of the cab version in today's Telegraph.

No say that BB...Shame as I like the targa more than the coupe.......There was a very special one at the factory with Club Italia badges all over it and lots of carbon fibre.....Seems to be the history of Alfa...great looking cars that are so nearly there.....

Contacted Greypaul and got the tour booked within 48 hours of enquiring for Tuesday 28th July, couldn't have been easier. Cost is £66 per person for those of you who are interested. Chuffed!

Yup. You would know it if you have seen it.

Blimey £66 per person - GrayPaul have taken a huge admin fee!

We went for free just 5 weeks ago. I contacted Maserati factory direct - maybe worth a go if it saves you £132. Honestly Craig, its a good tour but it's not worth £132 to be totally frank.

The photo is of the Enzo Ferrari Museo in Modena which is Enzo's birth place and home as a boy. His father worked on train maintenance in the workshop which is now part of the museum. Enzo sold it in his 20s in order to move to Marenello where more land was available. Well worth a visit: http://museomodena.ferrari.com
