It I’ll be fine regarding emissions, it’s post cat. It will be borderline antisocial though IMHO. I took mine off and refitted the original as I didn’t want to annoy the neighbours, and to be honest I didn’t think it matched the ethos of the car either really…

Well each to their own, and all, but *personally* I felt valves closed, and x-pipe was spot on. Valves open was an invitation to spool up Walkürenritt but not outside the neighbours at 0530

I don’t agree with all that.
The X-pipe sounds standard with valves closed, adds 10% volume with valves open plus more crackle and pop.
It is not a decat!

I run an Autoshield X pipe and Larini sports cats. I (think) I have posted in detail on my thoughts on here before but in summary - X pipe, definitely. Sports cats - not worth it (IMHO). I tried sports cats and stock resonator and definitely less good than X pipe alone

Well not quite relevant here, but I have the 4.2 and welded spindles onto the valves inside the box so that I could play with them and see how they work. Surprisingly they don’t open when revving in neutral and they only open up much above the 3500 when accelerating hard and quickly shut again when power is lifted off a bit. I guess the 4.7s operating on vacuum must open up a lot more, with the possibility of leaving them open in Sport mode.

Not sure what my final plan will be, tempted by 4.7 boxes, but at £1k secondhand, think I will play with my boxes more as it is free! For those with 4.2s, jamming valves open does not make much difference to noise.
