Four wheel drive S, missed that before.
What's the point of the diesel? It has the worst fuel consumption figures of all?!

Great review Miles. Love the Ghibli S, I haven't been paying too much attention but whats the price and release date on these? Looks like a nice family car to me!

Don't know the pricing Mondie, but I assume orders are being taken. I've mentioned a few times that I find it a ghastly thing, so I've not been paying it too much attention TBH.

The 4 wheel drive S looks to be the best one but we are not getting it over here in Blightly....

All they do by offering this in LHD is hack me off as I would buy the 4WD S as my next car but I'm not buying the 2WD car as they can't be arsed to look after the UK market.

To expensive to convert to RHD Dem is what I read with the small amount of sales......

Just shows how Maserati is off the mark. Nothing positive for me in that comment, just puts me off.

It's always been like that with Italian cars...

I'm sure there's a four wheel drive Alfa Sportwagon available in Europe- I read about someone importing one once- in LHD.

And I'm sure there's a Euro diesel Alfa 159 4WD- which is a car I would buy immediately, but you can only get it here in the 3.2..

Plus Lancia Thema 8:32 from back in the day- again; only available in LHD.

And of course- there was nearly never a (Ghibli) Cup RH drive series. But a lovely chap called Drummond Bone got some owners together and petioned the factory... But that's another story, and another thread...

Amazing, you hardly see any Maserati's when touring Europe, yet all the good stuff is on sale there, shortsighted, or what..??

One telling sign for me is there is no "designed by" badge on the side that I can see. Guess they don't want to put "designed by committee"

Did anybody else read about the "sound actuators" which feature on the diesel near the exhaust?
I think the idea is that the car "plays back" or imitates a deeper engine note...!
I've never heard of anything like that on a car and it's a shame it's on this- the diesel noise wouldn't embarrass me...!

IIRC, the new M5 uses a similar system to enhance the exhaust noise in the cabin.

I have heard of similar in other places. Porsche as well?
Electric cars more obviously.
Personally I think it's ridiculous, but meh. Each to their own.

The new Audi SQ5 uses some kind of noise actuator in the exhaust that changes its note to a much deeper V8 like rumble, its pretty impressive from what I have heard on Youtube. The new M5 actually uses the cars speakers to add some rumble to the exhaust note, shame it was necessary and I dont understand why they chose to do it. The new twin turbo V8 RS6 sounds mental and proves that a good sounding TT V8 can still be made within current noise regs without trickery like that in the M5

Cheers

Oh well- that shows you what I know then!

This has got to be a departure moment, to see that on Italian car though...?
