An interesting insight Drew; amazing we managed as much as we did against organised attempts to remov us from everything...

More credit to the organisation of our numbers :)

I can understand their issue, but don't really care now.

We had the most fantastic trip, a real,1-off. Those involved in organising our trip did an amazing job and I still felt very much part of ithe whole thing even though none of it was official. I'm quite glad we made our own fun. I will never forget it!

I wonder what the Italian Owners Club made of this. This was meant to be their International Rally. It would have been an honour for them to organise it had they been given the chance and some financial backing, and I think they'd have done a far, far better job.

Let's face it, it would be more of a challenge finding someone who couldn't have done a better job. They ought to be ashamed of their efforts but they will be too busy counting their money to care.

Much the same thing happened with Alfa Romeo's Centenario in 2014. That was outsourced to MAC, the people who also brought us the Mille Miglia preceded by 100 new Ferraris driven by wealthy Russians. For Alfa Romeo they managed to come up with the most uneventful event ever - although to their credit it wasn't nearly as expensive as Maserati's Centennial. Afterwards I sent them an e-mail saying that I wouldn't even entrust my daughter's birthday party to their organisation, but never heard back - although I probably needn't try to enrol for the MM any time soon.

Update on the Modena Hotel.

I have been arguing with them over a €3000 discrepancy in the bill and have still not paid it as yet.

The hotel have finally agreed that I was right and they were wrong over adding 50% to the bill!!!

Obviously the Italian attitude is to try and have a go, unbelievable!

I will be paying the final bill and thus will have the currency fees in so I can issue anyone who wants the balance off their deposit back. Don't get too excited your looking at less than a tenner.

Any one who does not want it back will be making a very welcome donation to the forum coffers.

I'll update you all next week when I have the final figure.

Please can you add my refund to the forum kitty please Matt, thanks.

The fact that we all really enjoyed ourselves is the main thing, we were there in Modena for the 100th Anniversary of the brand we care about and nobody can ever take that away from us, no matter how hard they tried..!! We buy the cars and get all our spares from alternative sources so that we can continue to enjoy them..!!

Wasn't looking to open the debate about whether or not it impacted on our enjoyment of the event, just thought some people might be interested in some of the back story to how events unfolded.

Interested to note what and how...its just a shame that the brand has not made any effort to re ballance the situation.

On the 14th of December the brand is 100...would be nice if they gave the forum an early Christmas gift to say thankyou for the last 100 years of support.

Hello chaps. Am looking at a road trip next year down to Modena and then a little further into Italy before circling back along the coast into Monaco, Nice & Cannes. Anyway, I presumed that you lads mapped out the most scenic route with the best driving roads. I suppose I could go through the other 297 pages of this thread but wondered if anyone could point me at it?

Cheers
