Rather than purchase breakdown cover for all the cars, why not see if they can do a club cover, one premium must be less than 12-15?

Just to bump this forward so everyone knows the cost and where we are.
Hotels will be 4* class unless we are forced lower due to lack of availability, or higher if we can get an amazing deal..!!

Currently the Modena Hotel is at a cost of around £83.00 per room per night for double/twin. My aim is to get all the hotels at about the same price..!!

For the French part of the route, you can purchase a SANEF TOLL TAG, these fit on your screen and you settle the bill the month after you get back. You drive straight through the tolls which would be way quicker than waiting for everyone (20+ cars) to find change and pay. Sanef have an office in Harrogate I think..??

You also don't run the risk of hammering your wheels against the ultra high kerb so that Mrs Catman (a lady of diminutive stature) can reach to pay the toll......

Yes, they do - UK website, and direct debit from your UK bank account. Tolls are the same price, regardless how you pay, but the convenience of a tag is well worth it. On many toll stations, there are lanes to drive through at 30kmh, without stopping. At the others, it's still far easier and quicker than finding the change, or putting a Visa card in the slot.

Interesting comments from the senior members of the UK Maserati Club at the NEC yesterday. None of them would admit to having a clue about dates for the 2014 Modena events, and it seems the club is officially waiting for the factory to announce the programme of events before they will even consider booking a hotel. These are the people who edit the magazine and organise the trips, events and functions. They appeared clearly peeved that other people knew what the dates had been announced to be, and that hotel rooms have already been booked in Modena. Now, I know that at least two of the people I spoke to were in the hotel in Montreux when the PR lady gave out the information...

Depending on route we may also need the Swiss Vignette too which can be bought online before the trip and is valid for the calender year. If we do Stelvio, we will definitely need it. The only other way to avoid Switzerland is to go into Italy via Monaco but that would also mean avoiding Germany which is autobahn heaven!

The route through Mont Blanc tunnel bypasses Switzerland, so also no vignette required.
