When you get out of your car, the act of swivelling on cloth seat which are often made out of nylon charges your body. If you don't earth yourself, by touching the metalwork, you can ignite the petrol when you come into contact with the pump. Scary but you unconsciously prevent yourself from charging up by touching the door as you swivel on the chair.
