Looking for that elusive low miles GS?

The whole question of mileage has been worrying me. I initially set myself a budget of £20k to buy a Maserati and then increased that to £25 when I decided to get a GS. Since I bought mine, I have been kicking myself for not spending more and buying one of the 30-40 thousand milers that RG has got. But I don’t really know why. The car I’ve got is great. I just worry about being able to sell it in 4 years time when it will have say 65k on it. All pretty stupid really. But I want a car to drive rather than sit in the garage. Such a first world problem!

I think most people go through this thought process.
If you buy cheaper with higher mileage, as long as its been looked after, it should mean although you will sell it cheaper , you 'might' lose less on it, and it will be easier to sell as there will be bigger target market.
I think everyone should stop being preoccupied with mileage. Its really silly on ferraris. Are you telling me that a 3,000 mile ferrari is THAT much different to 10 or 12,000? If its 5 years old it probably better off being driven a bit. At 20,000 miles you would think looking at Autotrader they are fit for the scrap heap. Surely they are hardly run in in real terms!

With a mega Spec!
Post Photos Adam...

Tempting fate. Need to get the d4mn thing first. Should have an update tomorrow, inspection done mid-week and collected by the weekend. That's my plan, anyway.

Dean, my moons haven't aligned but life has reminded me a few times recently quite how short it can be so I thought bollox, why not.

Fair enough & I certainly can't argue with that. Awesome choice.

We are having a site survey done this week then getting the development plans/app moving. Maybe in 3 years time we can be V12 S buddies

What gearbox you gone for?

Yes, the debate will rage on but most service items nowadays are realistically on time not mileage and so will cost the same to maintain and a higher mileage car, if properly serviced and maintained, is a more reliable proposition in my mind and you can use it without fear of adding too many miles.

I'll be a forum pariah until then!

I plumped for the semi-auto. I thought about the manual but in all honesty, I just can’t see the point. I know the purists will say it’s the only one etc etc, but I ML never drive in auto anyway, and the AM box isn’t much different from the MC box, which I really liked. Flicking up and down the gears is so easy with paddles, and it avoids the ruinously expensive mistake of going from 4th to 1st which I’m sure is easily done on those oh-so-close gears on the dogleg manual.

Very nice....bet you can't wait to get it.

I've only ever driven an early DB9 and early V8 Vantage paddleshift thing. Neither gelled with me but the later boxes are much better/improved I understand.

If planning goes well & quick (not sure either of those words are often used in that sentence!) then it will be quicker. If it doesn't happen at all I won't be able to afford one so I'll be a forum pariah with you!

Plus for a manual V12S you would have needed a whole load more cash. Not many about and most over 125k. OK could get an early V12 Manual for 80k but yours has 50 bhp I believe being an S. Plus the paddle shift in yours is nothing like the early cars.

Lots of thread drift, but back to this car. I would have loved to have owned this as I think it would have seen me out in Weekend Car until retirement and still have been sensible miles (50/60k).

Having said that my GS turned over the 50k last year and I have been too concerned about resale to enjoy the drive.

My first 4200 was the one I used and enjoyed the most. Bought with 52k sold three years later with +20k; it was one of the highest miles cars out there in 2011 with 72k on the clocks but I never once worried about a drive out.

Now I think twice and then spend £2500 on maintenance for a car I hardly use...daft really.

Surely Pete even putting more miles on her your money is safe. Suppose it you chop her in for a GT you'll lose a shed load more than you would on a GS even one with 60/70 miles up. I sold my E30 M3 Evo11 I sold for 12k with 24k on the clock back in 1996....That car in 2006 with 100k on the clock sold for 38k.......If the car is seen as a pinicle of the marque they will alwYs command a premium and it feels like the GS could be a car like that.
