Given that mine seems to have developed a crack, looking for a windshield for a LHD Gransport (or 4200) in good nick.
There is a difference between early 4200 windscreens and the later 4200 /GS screens. Early 4200s do not have the radio aerial built into the screen as they had the bee sting area on the rear wing.Given that mine seems to have developed a crack, looking for a windshield for a LHD Gransport (or 4200) in good nick.
Im not sure about this but the branding stamp is opposite the driver on the LHD and RHD windshields. Thats the only difference I know other than the model specific one regarding the window aerial.Apparently so, something to do with placement of wipers...
MrRR watched mine being replaced and spotted the cutouts - only visible with the screen in its exposed stateIm not sure about this but the branding stamp is opposite the driver on the LHD and RHD windshields. Still a need I'm afraid.
Found one and it cracked when the guy was taking it out of the car it was in...
This is turning into a full blast detective story...
I spoke with Pilkington a couple years back with respect the rear glasses. They have a 3200 (rear) pattern, apparently. They were pretty helpful and responsive via email. Quite technical in terms of dimensions and what they require, as you’d expect.
I can’t believe these screens are nla. There’s a lot of these cars still in use. I know I worry about it. After decades of never damaging a screen, I’ve had to replace a piece of glass every 15 months for the last 5-6 years.
I wonder how many it’d take to satisfy a limited run…? If the 3200 is the same, except for an aerial or whatever, which I’m certain they can easily incorporate, it’d be well worth an email…!
Good luck.
Which company replaced your screen? Our Spyder might be heading that way…MrRR watched mine being replaced and spotted the cutouts - only visible with the screen in its exposed state
Makes you wonder if it’s worth having a ceramic PPF film fitted to give much better stone chip protection.I spoke with Pilkington a couple years back with respect the rear glasses. Think I may have...maybe...Man, if you find one and bring it over, I'll host you for as long as you want and rename the teenager or the cat 'Dennis' (pending approval of SWMBO evidently)
I'm liking that certainly seems the way forward unless your a windscreen installer.Makes you wonder if it’s worth having a ceramic PPF film fitted to give much better stone chip protection.
I have lost two screens on my XJ to unrepairable chips / cracks. And plan to have the latest replacement being fitted next week fitted with PPF.

I was really lucky - it was a case of phoning round - Eurospares had two windscreens and Grimaldi's is next door - and he kindly popped round to check out which was the better (neither were perfect) and bought the better one. It so happened Grimaldi's windscreen fitter was coming round the next day so MrRR (I was tied up with work) dashed down to Halstead to get it sorted (we were off on holiday four days later). I am aware windscreens can crack when being removed. I am also very particular now and as soon as I see a chip I get it sorted - there is an excellent windscreen man in the Hereford/Worcester area. My insurance company (Cherished Vehicles) was also exceptionally helpful with the incident as it was rather costly and they paid the full bill.Which company replaced your screen? Our Spyder might be heading that way…
Id have thought it's value is in the preservation of screens that are nla. Im not sure Id fit it on my scabby example but needs must?I'm liking that certainly seems the way forward unless your a windscreen installer.
