An interesting read and like most I've had a few.
Will Autocar be doing an article on brushless motors in the future ?

The Rover V8 was the biggest surprise for me, but then I don’t know much at all about engines!

Interesting to see the Yanks still using V8s from the dark ages ;)

But this Opel is still high on my itch to scratch list had a standard 1200s which we fitted a 1.9 carb engine but a real GT/E is what I want

My first car was exactly that! 1.2 Opel Kadett! 7th Proud owner with 107K on it when I got it as a student. WWW105S - Happy days until it got totalled by an OAP reversing an FSO Polski Fiat into me on the motorway. He'd missed the exit sign so was reversing back to have another look......

Oh no don't bring me to his attention, besides I thought Shove its were his thing ;)
Steady! The Chevette and Kadett share a lot of parts. Interestingly the Getrag 5 speed box in the HS has the BMW logo casted in it. For the nerds out there, the Jensen Healy series 2 had the same box. Tbf, it’s a waste of time: like the 4 speed it had virtually the same 1st gear ratio, and both had a direct drive top gear (20mph/1000rpm). This meant that you had to change gear more often to go at the same speed. I guess it made you feel like you were going faster.

Love the HS Chevettes but the Kadett GT/E was always the one I hankered for, to much watching Brian Culcheth in one back in 78. Had a 1200S for a while which was followed by a 1979 Ascona 2.0SR which I loved.

One day maybe
