I only used two gears - 2 and 3. Even though I was in "manual" , the car changed up by itself when it hit the red line and I jacked it back into 2 after braking into the corners. Quite disconcerting to see the pads smoking when I came in!

Your XJ was epic. Seeing you brake for the bus top and scrubbing off the speed was awesome.

Braking at 50? Dinner plate brakes, or no weight, certainly not a lack of speed!Mainly the car dictates the approach but i use third around the bus stop and it works much better for me. If you haven't got much torque second is the best for sure but third gives you a 'softer' throttle to balance the car on the slow corners and saves a change after devils elbow. Fourth on the back straight, third on the chicane and back to fourth on the pit straight braking at the 50 on both straights.

Just stay calm, drive slowly first and learn the turn in points, apex and exit. Build up speed and brake later till you see God, then back off.How does anyone think of all that while going round?
They only thing that's going on in my head is F... F... F... F...,
Physically it's mash the throttle, mash the brake, clench buttocks and turn!

Cheers to Andy for arranging another superb Llandow day....Thanks Andy.
Great time other than a box full of neutrals occasionally, worked fine when driving properly round the track and seems ok now so will follow Matt's advice and replace the battery first!
Thanks to Hoyin for taking me round in the Noble, great fun and way more nimble than the lardy GT although it hustled round there ok.
Put me down for the next one Andy
Cheers
