It's a shame there are less and less of these cars but that also means that ours get more valuable.
There are less than half of asseto corsas on the road over there

I think the AC peaked around the mid 50s, there have been a few written off, and a few went to Australia.

When I sold mine I believe there were 8 black ones in the UK left

Neither had I, just remembered seeing them in the past on howmanyleft. It's probably like 20-30 sorn for each auto and manual.

Anyone know where to get affordable valve cover gaskets and valve lash shims?

I'd be surprised if there were more than 35 ACs left including those SORN'ed

25 Manuals and 18 Autos, that was the totals for end of 2015. I think you are right, although some may be mixed up with the standard cars.
