Led headlights...

Hi guys I quite like the LED look on the new GTs but we have established that it will be over 3k to swap out the headlights + a lot of wiring for the DRLs.

I'm currently planning to buy a used broken headlamp from a GT so that I can dismantle it and see if I can also remove the yellow reflector. If anyone has one lying around then please let me know.

What do you guys think of the LED side lamps? I'm guessing they would look good if we replaced the halogen bulbs with good quality LED ones. Has anyone done this yet?

Did you get the post that I put on your other thread on the orange reflectors? Search it out as there is a specialist company that might be able to help you do something more cost effective and professional looking.

On a similar note, I've just changed my orange side indicators (which are the same ones as those on the 458 Italia and California) for smoked black ones today and they really make a big difference. They now blend in with the (Nero Carbonio) black paintwork, so MC2 looks even more stealth-like now :)

Tilum - where did you get the smoked black indicators, and did you do them yourself / was it tricky?

Off ebay (link).
However these ones are the round ones which are meant to replace the ones on the MC variants (MC Stradale and GranCabrio MC). The base GranTurismo, S, and Sport variants all use an oval indicator lens.

Dead easy to fit... carefully pull off the original lens, then push back the rubber seal/grommit to remove the bulb (if it's a clear one). Replace the bulb with the orange ones (provided with the smoked lenses), and then refit the rubber seal to the chassis and pop on the new lens.

I do however admit that the side indicators don't appear as bright as with the original orange lens. (I changed one bulb & lens first, hence being able to do a direct comparison with the hazards switched on.) But having said that, they could still be seen flashing even in bright sunlight, so they will be more than adequate when it's darker outside. I did check the wattage of the bulbs, and they are the same (12v 4W).

They do the same lenses in a clear finish (as opposed to smoked black), but as my car is black the smoked ones are more suitable. Perhaps the indicator light will be brighter with the clear lenses compared with the smoked ones; would make sense.

Although the lenses are for the MC variants, the seller may well do the oval ones for the other GranTurismos and GranCabrios.

Many thanks - I'll take a look (and decide whether I can do the job myself before buying!).

Yup, I fitted LED interior lights to my GT-S earlier today. These were the can-bus ready wedge bulbs from these people - http://www.crazyleds.co.uk/

I also fitted a pair of can-bus ready number plate LED's but these threw up a fault code so I'm going to speak to Crazy and ask for their advice. If I could only find out what the front side light and foglight bulbs were without taking the car apart, I would get some of those too.

I fitted a couple of HID side light bulbs to my spyder and it threw up a warning light. Took them out.
