Empty roads is something Manchester certainly hasn't got!
Was there last week, and went through it twice the week before, I can safely say it is the worst place for traffic jams outside of the M25.
And don't even get me started on the M6!!!!

I said empty roads not motorways , you don't have to come far off the M6 to find some great empty roads north of Bolton up to Blackburn/ Darwen

I beg to differ. Go past Preston going north and the Motorways are nice and empty!

I did like the road that's between Sheffield and Manchester the A628 I think it was, that took you over the hills.

Woodhead Pass = A628, Snake Pass = A57.... Too busy, both roads. There are far too many trucks on them.

Yes Dem, it's about 20 miles away. The tenants gave notice in January, so we decided to move into the old farmhouse, mostly because of the 'adequate' garaging I have here

I have family in Ollerton Edwinstowe and Mansfield so if I'm up there visiting them or seeing my little one I'll give you a shout

By all means Dem - always welcome... As you were at my other UK house which was rather more on your way to/from Enfield and about 30 miles from Mansfield!

There were plenty of trucks on there, however, I did a swift over taking move at the bottom, I overtook 4 trucks and 3 cars and then had 20 minutes of driving on my own so it was very pleasant.
