Hello everyone. I've signed up on here and am contemplating the purchase of a used Maserati next year (late next year to be exact). I'm hoping to learn a lot about the cars prior to purchasing one so that I make the right decision with respect to the model and specification.

I've owned Porsches before but nothing in the league of a Maserati so this is something very special for me.

Welcome Evoke, you are making a wise choice and you will be surprised by the mystic behind the brand, Joe Blogs on the street does not know what they are worth. I had one guy shout 'Too much money' at me when I drove through a town one evening in my 10 year old 3200 worth about £12k.

It goes without saying, get an independent inspection, no better advice anyone can give you when buying a used Maserati.

I look forward to tracking your progress on SportsMaserati.com

Welcome

Recommend you do it ASAP, there is nothing like it and better to have memories than dreams.

Hi evoke and welcome to the forum. Maseratis are very special and will bring countless smiles to your face just stepping into one. In order to minimise the dangers associated with buying any supercar make sure that whatever you buy has full service history with main dealer or a recognised indie. Make sure you have an independent inspection. Try to buy the best you can afford and remember cheap can mean expensive in the end. Nobody gives something away unless there is a bloody good reason for it.

Always ask on the forum because the car you are looking at might be known by another member. We will always try to help you.:)

Cheers all for the warm welcome. I've been into cars for a good couple of decades now but I feel like a kid in a toy shop with the anticipation of buying a Maserati! By necessity I have to buy next year which is when I will have sifficient budget to cover the purchase, insurance and maintenance costs. I am used to preparing for car purchases 18 months or more in advance and I enjoy the research into a car.

If you enjoy the research consider getting the Brooklands book on Maseratis 1999-2007; it features all the original road tests and was invaluable to me when I was first considering a purchase.
