Just bought a QP...

Just bought an 08 Sport GTS (4.2 version). Great car, dnt know why I didn't think of one before!

This seems to be most knowledgable forum, so hopefully someone can answer a few questions, which I know are discussed in various threads, but can't see definitive answers:

1) how can I bring exhaust up to maximum tunefulness without being over the top? I've read that the sport GT has larini equivalent x-pipe, so assume GTS does (maybe I should look...). Will back box improve it, and should I avoid sports cats if noT wanting to sound like a Scuderia? Can I have this fitted anywhere?

2) do any of the performance italia upgrades (DBW etc) make a big difference? I'm assuming the supercharger is very expensive and changes nature of car, but would like to tweak performance if possible. What would budget be?

3) what is best way to add bluetooth (iPhone) functionality? Was planning to change whole head unit, but hadn't realised how integrated buttons were.

4) anything else worth knowing about...?

Hi Footsoldier and welcome to the forum .... Very jealous as thats my fave QP .... what colour and spec is it ....Only know of 4 that have been for sale recently .... Grey one and a black one at Meridien, SIlver one at another dealer and a black one at Carrs ... One of these yours?...If you get chance post some pics as would love to see her.

Thanks. It was the grey (alfieri) at Meridien. Only 10k on the clock, though I added 500 driving it back to Edinburgh. Had callipers changed from Grey to Red, as that suits the GTS personality! Will try to post pics in a couple of days.

Brilliant..Say it hadgone off their web site....Bet you are pleased. Loook forward to the pics...Think red calipers were standard on the GTS and grey an option ...Why would you change the red ... Good choice to go to red...

When you say you changed your calipers from grey to red, did you physically change the calipers or have a respray? I'm thinking of doing the same, but understand that stenciling the Maserati logo back in can be a bit of an Rs-ache.

I've got an aftermarket Sony Ericsson bluetooth connection wired into my 4200, it was there when I bought it. Very generic (it's played fine with a Nokia and my current Android smartphone) but it does the job so long as you're not expecting integration with the headunit itself. It's pretty old now so I'm sure it's been superseded otherwise I'd try to dig out the model details. I guess my point is that it should be possible to wire in something, the challenge is in integrating it discretely.

I'm also looking to increase the natural Maser sound and looking at a centre-section rather than back-box solution in the belief that it would be less aggressive. Here's the post in case there's anything in there you find relevant:

Meridien did the callipers at my request pre-collection. Originally they said the logo would go on top and would wear off, but they ended up doing it properly - respray, application of logo, then lacquer on top. Looks as good as original.

I had it done as part of deal, but think they said it would normally cost £600 for their workshop to do.

I bought my car from ADG and I remember Mat at Giallo mentioning it could be done. He didn't quote a price at the time, but not sure I want it quite that much.

I spoke with MM about some of their GTs but the prices were so rich, I decided to go new instead.

The car you have bought looked good though and price was not silly.

I am in a Rosso Mondiale 4200 at the moment.

You've made an excelent choice matey, and maybe I'll see you when I drive my QP up to Edinburgh (my hometown) next week
