Okay all I need to sort a motor out for France to get started with and thinking of an XF Diesel.
Reviews seem to be favourable but I have never driven one but reckon quality is going to be similar to my 08 Range Rover.
Fire away your opinions and alternative choices ;)

Can't answer for the XF but my XE diesel was a lovely drive Phil. Build quality wasn't quite up to the German rivals but it was a lovely place to be sat and the XF is no different. XF seems great value as well and the ones I've been in are really comfortable yet still handle really well for a big car.......

Hadn't thought of a modern one but in getting ready for the France move I have seen a few and they look good.
I'm certainly having another XJ6 as the last two years with my XJC was so much fun.

I have a 2011 XFS (the 271bhp one) for commuting duties. I’ve had it for 3 years/35k miles and it has been brilliant. Comfortable, a pleasure to drive, refined, plenty of power for daily use, as above it handles well for a big car.

Mine is a Portfolio, which was the highest spec level jaguar did at the time. I think they might have changed the spec levels since then. The stereo system is the best I’ve had in any car (top spec Bowers and Wilkins system). It has some really nice options and worth holding out for in my view.

‘Parking pack’, which includes a rear camera and front sensors, was not standard with any trim level at that time but is a ‘nice to have’ option. These are big cars and a pain to park.

Running costs have been reasonable. The only big issue beyond standard servicing I have had is blowing 2 intercoolers during that time which are c. £800 a pop at my inde. A known problem apparently.

Overall I would thoroughly recommend.

Of course, no worries. Too early on a Sunday to think straight.

Bloody ****. That might suit if I need to start hacking up to Nottingham. What are the running costs like?

I had a 2011 XJ Premium Luxury 3.0 Diesel Twin Turbo 275bhp. Loved it & would certainly have an XJ again. However only a petrol. That 275bhp Diesel engine is cracking but I've just fallen out of love of fast Diesels with their boom/bust power delivery & very narrow power bands with low revving nature of diesel.

I never liked the XF interiors & the XJ is much much nicer. The new XF is better now inside. The XJ is bigger but no heavier as was all aluminium whereas the XF was mainly steel back then.

I own a 2014 Jag XF S and I think it’s brilliant; 50mpg on a run with 275bhp, really a great combination.
