Clutch shattered in a spectacular way in Brighton. Three hours at the side of the road but on way home now. I guess 47 years isn't bad for a clutch.

47 years! Shocking.......you'd expect at least 50 surely ;)
Hope it is an easy and not too expensive fix.....she is beautiful though.

What a shame but as the others say still looks Beautiful.
On the plus side got to be a lot easier to do a clutch on this era car than the current F1 models.
Keep us posted.

Thanks all. She's nicely tooked up in the garage, got home at 8.30 after a 3 hour roadside wait. Yesterday was the busiest day of the year for breakdowns apparently. Now need to track down a new clutch....
On a more positive note my MCV comes back this week after the respray

A friend of mine is selling his Ghibli SS. I'd just change the car. Seems easier. :)

Could the clutch be refurbished if it's the friction plate that's goosed ?

Not sure, its being trailored to the garage tomorrow. At this stage there is a loud clunking sound when the engine fires and the clutch pedal is completely loose. Most likely the plate broke up due to metal fatigue. Seems parts are available but it normally involves taking the old unit out and sending to a specialist for a refurbishment. I should know more on Wednesday.
