I've finally gone and done it, I've joined the ranks of Maserati owners.
I've bought a Maserati Ghibli Cup, a RHD 2.0 – one of 24 remaining. It's a project and is with McGrath and will be for some time, but it's good to finally actually own one, rather than just write about them and hang around here like a bad smell. I'll be writing about the process for Classic Cars magazine, though the first instalment won't be for a while yet.

Just interested on progress (as I am working on my Cup as well).

The first restoration part was done at the end of September, though Classic Cars seem to be drip feeding the story out slowly. I've been using it when I can, and I'll be at the Scramble on Sunday.

There are a few things that need doing, it's going back to McGraths with a view to sorting out the adaptive suspension once a supplier has been tested. The steering is uneven left to right and right to left, I believe there's a steering column knuckle that needs adjustment.

I'm planning on going to Villa d'Este, Le Mans, maybe Austria with it so I'm looking improve the brakes; they were never great from the factory and the discs and pads are fairly old.

If there's any money left I'm considering replacing the somewhat old speakers with upgraded, but standard-looking items. The music I listen to is bass heavy and it's distorting far too much. I'm not looking to win a sound off competition, however.

I'd save the money on the speakers and crack the window a little!

I'll be honest, it's not the most sonorous engine thanks to the turbos. It's certainly lively when pushing on, but it's not something you'd drop the windows to sink in the noise while cruising, like your Chim/GranSport etc. The 147 GTA fulfils that role
