Ok guys, two days in and what can I say. The Stradale is everything and more than I could have wished for. Didn't get out at midnight as hoped because the lane was still frozen, but managed a gentle 150 miles yesterday with "she who must be obeyed" and another hundred or so today in company with my mate in his 458.

We're all meeting up at The Hutt pub on the A60 in Ravenshead for a run into the Peak district. If anyone fancies joining us we'll be leaving at 8:15am.

Pic from yesterday

I made absolutely sure that GP didn't fit the cheap and nasty bracket by removing it from the car when it first arrived at the dealers. They were all told in no uncertain terms NOT to drill the splitter. I figure that I can't be fined for not displaying a plate, only that it isn't absolutely compliant. I think the police are well aware of the problems of fitting front plates to this type of car and are fairly casual about it. Looking at the La Ferrari yesterday, there is nowhere to fit a plate sensibly. I'll just have to see how it goes, I'll have a pukka plate in the boot just in case.

Only got another 14 hours and 6 minutes to wait, seriously excited now. Sadly we still have 3 inches of frozen snow all around, and whilst the main roads are relatively clear, our lane is a nightmare. I can get down it, but will never get back up if I do venture out. Just hoping the forecast is correct and we get a thaw.

As mine was a showroom car it had already been pdi'd and fitted. Oh well will work something out. Doesn't look too bad as its mounted low and white on white but will have a look.

How are you finding those corsa tyres in the cold? Find mine very tricky to avoid wheelspin until they are well warmed up!

Found them a tad squirilly on Friday but the roads were pretty awful. In the dry yesterday I didn't have too much trouble, but to be fair I'm not nailing it yet and keeping under the 5k rpm limit Maserati suggest for the first 1000km's. Given the high performance aspect of the car/tyres, I wouldn't expect them to be very different from my old race bike on slicks, that used to take at least a lap to get the tyres fully up to temperature even with tyre warmers.

CHM???? Not sure what/where this is. Either way, I'm sure we now have enough members to start an East Midlands section.

You can add me in to an East Midlands meet, always like drooling over other Maseratis :)

There is north.......and there is bloody far north....lol

Totally agree highlander - Is there not a Scottish section either - that's one of the things that concerns me regarding prospective purchase of one of these things - no indy's near here at all.

Living this far north you get used to travelling for anything. Luckily phil at PK supercars knows these cars so well it is worth the travel if anything for the old girl is needed.

Then move South to civilisation. ;)

What? And move away from all these good roads! Lol

Lol move south where it is at least 5 degrees warmer on average!

Depends on the exact locations. Edinburgh compared with, say, Oxford is only 1.75c colder on the long term stats. London is obviously warmer and Northern Scotland colder than this. The real difference in the UK is rain - Cornwall, for example, gets twice as much as Edinburgh or London.

Northern Greg..!! I never mentioned Highland..!!
I had this problem when I moved to Edinburgh - I was used to anywhere north of Leeds being "Northern" but now Edinburgh is classed as "Southern"! The North is now places above Aberdeen!
Having said that, it'll be a nice drive to Inverness!

Not on the camera infested A9 I'm afraid :(
No, if anyone planning a trip to the highlands with their car at any time, take my advice and go via Glasgow, glencoe and fort William......much more enjoyable.
