Got my GT Sport a couple of weeks back and its already been back to the dealer once for a minor problem. However since getting it back it seems to have a strange sound coming from the underside. After say a drive of half an hour, when I park and stop the car and get out, there is a clear and distinct sizzling sound coming from the car. It sizzles then stops then sizzles again. The sound is like water being poured into a very hot pan. I cannot smell anything burning.

I have only driven the car twice since getting it back and have heard the sound both times after parking a switching off the car and getting out. This evening was the loudest and it stopped and started about 4 or 5 times with some of the times being louder than other.

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow but wanted to get your advice beforehand on what it could be? Assuming it isn't normal that is! I need to drive the car this week - should I stop driving it and use my runabout?

Thank you

I wonder if its the air con water drops hitting the exhaust? The only thing I can think of

Hi Rags,

More able minds than mine will doubtless have some views on this but it's not something I've experienced. Who's your local dealer?

Cheers,
Adam

No idea...sounds a bit strange......no other fluid leaks, front, middle or rear of car....but as no smell its not oil/lubricant related.......

Not really sure but these cars make a lot of noise as the metal bits - probably the brakes - cool down after a spirited drive.

Supplying dealer was Maranello. Local dealer is probably Modena but Im probably best sending to Maranello as they are not much further

Yup I agree. But clicks and clangs etc I understand but this is a clear sizzling and it fizzes at various volumes and length each time. I parked the car straight into the garage tonight and once I got out I could hear it. Sizzle for say 3 seconds. Then stopped and after a few more seconds started again and then again. I was worried that something was leaking so drove car out pf the garage to check for any leaks on the floor and nothing.

Maybe I am being paranoid. The first time it happened was on Sunday and I had only done a veyr short run to the local shops and back - but only one long sizzle that time

I couldnt see anything under the car and there was certainly nothing on the floor. Car is driving fine otherwise.

That's what sprung to my mind too. As its been warmer of late the aircon has to work harder and a byproduct if this is condensation. This vents from under the engine somewhere and could indeed be dripping onto the exhaust. Dealer is the best thing to do here.

I recall all the panics 156 owners used to have. Park up on a sunny day. Come back 20 minutes later and pull off to see a *huge* puddle where the car had been....

Oh how we laughed...
