Is it just me?

Prior to owning a Granturismo MC Shift, on the rare occasion that I'd see a Maserati I would stop and watch it drive past and listen to the exhaust. I've now owned one since July and the same thing happens! Maybe it's because I live in a rural area where the most common thing on the roads is a John Deere and I need to get out more, but no other car except the odd vintage one stops me like a Maserati - it's something about the design and the sound that just stops me in my tracks. I'd have thought after 6 months of owning one I'd get a bit bored but it's not the case. Is it just me?

It certainly isn't just you! I've had mine for over 4 years and it's a little shoutier than the average but the sound just never gets old. When I was driving with the SuperCarDrivers I've lost count of how many times I've been told that mine is the best sounding car they have ever heard. As a rule, it's generally Arseton drivers that grumble it's too loud and that's because they think they have the loudest cars going and they don't like being out-shouted.

Agreed, I was in central London a few months ago and a convoy of Ferrari, Aston, Lambo, Maserati slowly went by in the traffic and the only one that I could really hear was the Maserati - the others just seemed anonymous

As stock yes. But most cars now all have modified exhausts to make up for their short comings.

There is a GTS that lives in the apartment block where I live in London; makes me smile when he leaves for the office and I hear that deep rumble.

I remember taking a friend in the office for a spin and him being embarrassed at all the people that were turning around to see. The sound's just amazing.

Went to Italia Autosport with the SCD on Sunday. The guy who owns the place told me he knew there was a Maser coming because he heard it coming down the hill despite being surrounded by Ferrari's and Lambo's. They really do make the most glorious sound.

In another vein, I was out at a Bugatti expo in California last year and got talking to some woman who worked as an anaylist on Wall Street, she said there had been an article in some high end girlie mag surveying car sounds that turned women on, seems the Granturismo was top of the list!

I live in Central London where Maseratis are a relatively common sight. I still stop and have a good look and listen whenever one drives by.

There was a lovely black QP V parked not a 100 yards from my home last week. I have a QP in my garage which I just walked past yet I still had a good long admiring look at the parked black one; it just looked gorgeous.

Sadly I never see any to admire, they're few and far between around Manchester - haven't seen one in months! My friend has just bought an F430 and is convinced it is louder than the Maserati, he picks it up Saturday so I am looking forward to seeing/hearing it, just hope the weather permits a short session of spirited driving!

Hi Mike,
Just watched a 30 odd second clip of what I presume must be your car.
That blue looks like liquid.
Amazing - Had you gad it detailed.

This I assume?
Yah its mine.
Thanks.
Detailed, no, would like too though, although it wouldn't need much work!

Yeah - that's the one - if it looks that good - I am not sure you would need it detailing - I guess you will know where it needs some extra TLC.
