Hi, I know ipod connections have been discussed to death, but this is quite a specific question...
I'm using my old iPod classic (80gb) in my GTS (65 plate), the first attempt just using a USB failed completely, the system not even recognising iPod at all. Then did some reading and discovered it's quite a hit & miss subject dependent on many factors. Thought I'd try the split AUX/USB cable but, before forking out on the official Maserati one at a cost of £125 and not knowing 100% what functionality it would provide, decided to get a cheapo one off eBay for £6.50 as a trial.
This is the cable I've got....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N8V88Q1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The system instantly recognised the iPod and plays it no problem BUT there is no controlling it via any buttons in the car nor is anything displayed on the screen.
If this is as good as it gets then I've saved about £120 but was wondering what the consensus was over the official cable - do you think it might provide the extra functionality or is it essentially an overpriced version of the cheapo cable I've got??
My car does have 'iPod Connection' ticked on the options list.
