iphone/ipod connection for 4200

I know this has been covered in various threads but I can't quite piece it together.

I have MY03 4200, with no CD changer. I would like to be able to connect my phone or ipod to the standard infotainment system instead of the CD player connection or as well. Ideally I would like the phone to be charged through this connection too. I am not too fussed about making phone calls and don't really want or need a full bluetooth system attached to the dash. Basically I just want a USB connection to play music from the phone.

I have seen the 'with CD changer' option as per JonH, but not sure of my options as I don't have a factory fitted CD changer.

All ideas very gratefully received!

You should still have the cable to the boot, I think, and the corresponding socket on the NIT so should be able to attach the appropriate solution through one of those.

You have the CD connection and you can also connect a bluetooth phone system, so connections on the back should be available..!!

The NIT has a connection on the back, I connected a loud link to this which gave me an IPOD connection

I think there is a hole/slot around number 7 on the keypad if I remember rightly, this should get the front off..??

Thanks for the clues - much appreciated. I'll have a dig around and see what I can find. At least it seems something fairly simple should be possible

David Howson posted a how to on removing the NIT on here...the photos show you all the connections at the rear of the unit.

Really useful. Between the davidhowson and the stickynomore fixes I should at least be able to get there. Maybe a loudlink or similar will work although I dont think I have heard for sure what functionality it will have as i will be connecting it direct and not replacing an autochanger. We'll see.

There have been some negative reports about both loudlink and stickynomore. I have no personal experience, simply suggesting you go in with your eyes open.

Ive got the loudlink in...charges all devices and allows you to run everything from the iPod device, so start up, allow engine to idle, set the play list, windows down and off you go.........mind the neighbours though Pete:capricorn:
