Am I right in thinking the chap purchased the car without seeing it first...God thats a big no no as far as I'm concerned. Gutted for him though.

It does seem crazy to me to buy a car unseen as it were !!
But i guess he thought that being sold by a long standing member of that forum would be some garantee, obviosly NOT !!

Wow, that looks stunning in the pictures... any chance the guy is just a *bit* picky? And sorry, can't really fathom paying for a car I haven't seen. I 'bought' my Aston unseen but no money changed hands until I had driven it.

Possibly on some of the items, but at £23k he's paid decent money, and the service history bit doesn't sound picky!

I genuinely do feel gutted for this guy as I'd hate to be in his position, but good lord a bit of due diligence surely would have been prudent. I've bought with my heart rather than my head, but not on a £20K+ car, and sight-unseen?

I feel for him, and at the same time I feel VERY lucky with my purchase...which I did over the internet (sight unseen). The only major surprise was that the tires were worn on the inside (a common trait from what I gather), despite being advertised as 80% tread left...but I also decided to do a full service (all fluids, filters, etc.), to start from zero, which added $4k to my purchase price, which was a steal I must admit.

I acted on emotion, which I am sure this chap did too...I hope he gets his money back and finds another car...but you're right it looks mint in the pics...???

I went to see this car a couple of weeks ago and the description doesnt sound like this car

Hmm, odd - maybe it's not the same car then.......but it is the same model, same year, exactly the same mileage, and the advert has exactly the same quote as the bloke mentions...."A stunning vehicle in outstanding condition throughout".

Will have to see how this unfolds!

I've read and re-read this now numerous times and I just can't square it? It was posted only yesterday regarding a car only just purchased. It is the first posting, and yet the comments are knowledgeable and obviously researched, presumably in only a very short period of time.

And yet there is no recourse to return or negotiate the payment of unbeknown costs?

Hmmm?

The the dealer may not be long standing on the forum. If you look at all the trade advertisere they all have a big post count but not many of them post. I think it automatically gives them a high post count to advertise.....So I would say they were not a senior memeber.

Im sceptical its a ruse post to increase traffic , on tumbleweed.co.uk , or a fool and his money ......springs to mind , seems he's been careful to not name and shame, why ....has he had the foresight to research and read the rules pre posting as a new FREE member , which begs the question why he didnt do the same before parting with £20k

Forgive my sceptism but somethings amiss

regards loz

Dunno Loz, if the guy is genuine (I have no idea!) then your post on there is fairly harsh....he's probably not feeling great without having his nose rubbed in it! However, something doesn't quite stack up.... he seems very sure of his legal position and right to reject, so what would be gained from revealling all on a forum?
