Well guys as promised here is the story of my insurance renewal for 2007 QP (V)
I was given a renewal quote from Churchill of £289 (it was £150 ish last year)
Some on here said not too bad. I agree but still shopped around all the websites
I ended up with Admiral at £239 + £30.00 cash back

Nearly a pensioner garaged etc protected NCB, 8000 miles, only driver...........
So I had to let Churchill lapse and go with Admiral to get the cash back.
The insurance starts at midnight tonight. I am having a beer or two tonight so tomorrow I will wash it and be off for a run.

All that is left now is the warranty, I may wait until end of March because I have to insure my workhorse Renault in early March

All in all I am quite happy it just takes a long time ferreting around for the right deal

Cheap insurance is great but what are these companies like when you need to claim? What would be good to know is how people have found claiming from the respective companies.

You are right about what the service is like after an event
However nobody knows that until it happens and each individual has his own story good or bad
So providing they are a 'known' insurance company then why not go for the best deal?

The insurance i buy is for the benefit** of whoever I have an incident with. The thing to be concerned about is what is the other driver's insurance like.

Had someone reverse into my 3200, and the other pary insurance handled the whole thing end-to-end without me contacting my insurer at all. Included 8 weeks replacement hire car on a "like for like" basis.

(**asuming a no fault claim of course - choose very carefully if you crash a lot ;) )

A very good point and one I'd not considered

Renewed today, 4k miles a year, I have full no claims and no accidents but just got an SP30 and struggled to get it for £350 in the end with Aplan.

MOT tomorrow, tax on Saturday, the list goes on...

An uncle of mine made an interesting comment to me yesterday - he drives a Z4 and was renewing the insurance. Limiting the miles made a big difference to the price, but not always the way you might imagine. Anything below 4k miles and the price went up substantially!! At 2k pa the premium was double that of 6k, which appeared to be the sweet-spot for him.

You have to consider any modifications to the car.
I could get mine covered for £300 but not with the modifications, exhaust, wheels, and rear spoiler. Pay £500 but it's all declared, everything, no worries if the worse did happen.

Just paid £300 for second 3200 on a classic policy with footman James. Show car insurance, agreed value, get to keep car if written off too.

I've found this with my motorbike insurance. I think it's because they consider you more experienced if you are doing a reasonable mileage

It's now time for me to renew my insurance so have got a few quotes ranging from £300 with Privilege and Churchill to £700 with A-Plan. The big selling point with A-Plan (apart from the fact that they answer the phone within a few seconds) is that they will only use Maserati dealers for repairs. Remembering what Rob said, i asked about what happens when someone hits me and he said that they would still deal with the incident and guarantee the car went to Maserati and then claim off the 3rd party.

However, the £400 premium difference seems a lot for this service....but then i guess there's a potential loss in value if some random garage repairs the car.

I have been with Churchill for 2 years now, because they were very competitive
No problems
But
What happens if you need to use them god forbid
