Instrument Cluster Failure

All,

I've got a QPV GTS where the centre screen on the instrument cluster has failed. I'm told this will mean a new £1.3k replacement.

My indie is saying this is the first he's seen. I'd be interested on hearing any similar experiences, and ideally cheaper solutions.

Many thanks

Is the entire screen dark or are pixels missing. I had the complete dark screen, and just took the cluster apart, cleaned the connectors of the screen and it works. That was 2 years ago!

Does anyone know the part number for the instrument panel (dials part) bulbs, I believe there are three (and not 27 like on my old Alfa 166) I'm sure I have one out cos even turned up full the brightness is utter pants.

Buy a salvage unit from David Askew or Trident parts and swap it over.

Sell the clocks on if you want maximum return.

The cluster repair specialists can do amazing stuff for not a lot of money, I would check with them first. They did my old Range Rover for less than £100 when a replacement unit from the dealer was the wrong side of a grand (I used one in Yarmouth, they did it why I had lunch)

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I'm told centre display has failed completely. It was actually fine before it went to get another issue with the car looked at. I would have assumed that they checked the connectors, but I'll make sure that was done.

The indie has said that the cluster is coded to the car, so I'm told a second hand replacement isn't an option. But I will contact Clusterrepairs and see what they say.

Cheers
