Went for a lovely 80 mile run into the Cotswold's today, the old 3200GT was running superb..

Went for a cup a coffee for half an hour on the way back.. when I started it up in the car park it was on 7 cylinders with a engine fault code saying ign coil pack primary/secondary failure

It was a hot day, perfect one minute not the next. ...Any thoughts guys?

What the AA guy did with mine was individually disconnect the coil pack joining plugs to each cylinder until the tick over didn't change , if it's firing on 7 , then it's firing on 6 it's not that one , until one was disconnected and it still sounded the same as it did at the start

I do know the left and right banks have different part number the numbers are stamped on the top on mine

Using Rex's part number on eurocar parts I found then for £41 v £45

http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l...s/ignition1/ignition-coil/?413735000&0&000197

It's eurocarparts sister site, they publicise eurocarparts a lot but these are usually cheaper without the pretend discounts

the rubber tube is short on these ones, you can get these on e-bay too. if you reuse the old rubber tubes its ok. make sure they are clean if you do re-use them.

Ordered a genuine Valeo 3200 coil pack from Parkers for £26 with my trade discount, so we'll see what turns up..

If It's correct I'll add it to the SM parts list

Unless it's a total failure it could be just a connection issue which could be easily fixed by checking connection to spark plug and electrical connection collapse even look for a large crack going down the stalk creating an arc onto the block but that usually creates a miss at higher rpms under boost Nothing a bit of high temp
Silicone can't fix till u find the replacement part , how u go in the end?

All fixed now and back on the road :) £26 for the Valeo coil pack and £30 for a new extension piece. so not too bad

Maser Price £96 for the coil pack..£56 for the extension, plus tax... total rip off!

I'm going to buy another for a spare

Glad to read it's back on song.
Was painful to read after all before, hopefully it's all pleasure from here on, it's certainly deserved.

I had a Jaguar XJ6 and they had coil failure problems. Like the 3200 engine they have a lovely cover over the coil packs and that's the problem. There's heat buildup and the coils fail. 4200 engines have no such cover and no coil failure problems. Looks good, works worse.

Hi Guys,

Where can I order these coils from? I have just had coil pack H let go and am looking down the barrell of $200 AUD for a replacement. I just had a look in alternative parts but I see Dave got one for 26 quid??
