How to remove 3200 Fuel Pump?

I've gained access to the fuel tank in the boot, but have no idea how to remove the gold fuel pump locking rings! The Maserati Workshop manual simply shows a picture of a 4 legged removal tool of some kind, but absolutely no further info as far as I can see.

I tried to hammer the locking ring anticlockwise using an allen key in one of the circular holes, but I don't think this provides enough shove.

Any ideas?!

You could make your own tool from a piece of plastic drainage pipe with the correct diameter ( six inches or so should be enough). Cut the lugs out of one end and drill a couple of holes in the other so that you can put a bar through for leverage. It works on the SAAB fuel pumps but haven't needed to try it yet on the 3200.

It’s a faff but I imagine it will take the making of a tool. Some suitably sized bolts through a bar would do it I suspect.

If it’s the same as the 4200 (I suspect it is) blunt large flat blade and a hammer and tap it round.

Thanks all. It does seem to be significantly different to the 4200 from what I can see.... The 4200 pump def looks more conventional and easy to remove.

Anyone else done this job that can offer an opinion? I’m kind of assuming I don’t need to make a tool as this must have been done many times?!

Making a tool is the best way, two pins that can fit into the holes on the lock ring and a length of bar.

i suspect that's how I got my two out. I do not remember building or buying a special tool, and i got them out easy enough.

The more I take apart the 3200 it is really interesting to see quite how many Ferrari parts have been used. As well as Fiat and Alfa of course :)
