Tom - it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Bright colours are not everyone's cup of tea - me excepted!!

go on we buy any car, then double it, then add 20%

i dont actually know the outcome of that, but it sounds like a good idea lol

As others have said it's only worth what someone will pay, but in v good condition private sale up to 15k trade in probably 11-12k.i am just going by what I paid for my 2005 60k miles in Oct 14

Was talking to a previous maserati 4200 owner who traded his in, he got fed up trying to sell privately due to the number of idiots.

2002, manual, silver with Bordeaux interior, under 50k miles, apparently good history with recent annuals at shiltech.

Trade in value 8k!

He would have kept it if he'd had some dry storage, real shame.

Me too! To be honest its valuation doesn't matter to me (I'm just curious), it's a keeper now. I paid 13k...

It's a funny question the worth of something to you and what it is to others. My naighbours were having some furniture delivered today and the driver was admiring my car a polite man in his 60s. After a little chat went by the man asked me the worth of my car I asked him what he thought around 70k the man said. He was shocked to hear he could get a really good example for around 25-30 k.

What is a house worth? What someone is willing to pay for it, same goes for these cars...if it was a mercedes or Audi its easier

I did wonder what you paid for that but dare not ask, it seems a little uncouth :)
That is an excellent bargain.

When selling anything for it's true value the "P" word is king.........not pressurising or pushing a deal but Patience! These cars have a very small, and in general, knowledgable market pool to sell them in so underpriced ones go quickly, over priced ones don't shift at all and fair priced ones eventually move once one of the "knowledgable" want it.......

I think the main problem is no one knows how to price them. Good ones which have got the history to back up their condition will sell all day long whereas the ones which fall short or look a little unloved will sell but only at the right price.

Take 3200's for example, there are only 3 on Pistonheads and they range from 16.8k to 23k. On autotrader they start at 8995 and up to 13k. There really is no pricing gauge and many cannot value them due to rarity etc... this is also true of the older classic Ghibli's, sebrings, 3500GT's and Bora's etc.... with many either over exceeding or under achieving at auction.

For many the Maserati is a car we buy with our hearts and not our heads and those types of emotional purchases can result in people paying whatever they like to secure the deal. :)

Enjoy, who cares what they are worth, as long as we can enjoy them!
