I'm looking for a nice hotel probably in the countryside for dinner B&B within 20-30 mins of Witney, Oxfordshire to stay on 28 May for one night.

Any recommendations please?

Thanks in advance.

David.

The Fox Inn
Great Barrington, Burford, Oxfordshire, OX18 4TB, Burford

Not far from Witney, we stayed there as a groupon a few weeks ago, nice pub, clean large comfortable rooms, food gets mixed reviews on google but I can say the breakfast was excellent, we did get it at a knock down price though £130 for 2 nights inc breakfast , didn't eat there in the evening so can't comment on that, I'd stay there again

It had crossed my mind but Darren has succinctly summed up why we aren't staying there!

I can recommend The Plough in Clanfield. www.cotswoldsploughhotel.com

Lovely gastro-pub hotel in a pretty village, next to Bampton where they filmed much of Downton Abbey. In fact this is the pub/hotel that the cast stay in during filming. Huge gin selection also.

I forgot to add that usually accommodation on a Sunday night is free of charge if you spend sensible money on a dinner for two. But this probably doesn't count on a BH weekend. Check their website for details.

So can I. Have been using it for years and had dinner there most recently late last year. It was as good as ever.

Scrub the fox inn, I was happy with it for what I paid but it's not worth £170 a night, that looks lovely, we had a really good time in the cotswolds, really enjoyed it so we'll be going back, looks like we've found a new pub to stay in, thanks Ewan

Crazybear at Stadhampton if you fancy something different and a bit wacky.

That looks ace but it's fully booked the night we want unfortunately.
And what brings you this way?

My partner is doing a course in Witney getting a certificate in teaching English and she's off that weekend so we're having a night away.

Booked but no free stay unfortunately :(

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

The Bell at Hampton Poyle is a nice gastro pub with rooms, near Oxford, have stayed there a couple of times before.
